kellylrossi's own diet

 Summary:

3 meals per day, no limit on amount of protein but carbs are limited to 60g or less per day. Legumes, brown rice & quinoa permitted, but white rice, pasta, noodles, potatoes are not. Legumes are higher in carbs, but the fiber does offset the carbs and will help keep you regular (unlike on the Atkins diet where you are having to take supplements or drink laxative type tea). This diet was recommended to me by my doctor (rice & legumes are not favorable but do help keep me filled up so I am less hungry and less inclined to snack or cheat. I find that I only loose weight if I stay at 1300 kcals per day or less. This diet should not only help take the weight off slowly, but should help to stabilize blood sugar, cholestoral and lower blood pressure (as long as you watch the sodium intake as well).

How To Follow kellylrossi's own diet:

Eat normally; no special instructions are needed other than to watch portion size. I even eat out - I find that Chipotle is great if I have them halve the brown rice & bean servings - I can even have sour cream on the meal. Jersey Mike's also offers their subs as salads, so if you are craving something like that, go ahead. Just don't eat the bread. Applebees has several meals that are under 550 calories, but I find the carbs are quite high. Stick with a good ribeye or sirloin steak, double your serving of vegetables instead of vegetables and a potato and you can even have a bit of steak sauce. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 8oz glasses of water per day. Nuts and seeds are great, as are celery stalks & carrots (uncooked) if you get hungry between meals. No peanuts (they aren't really nuts), but again, watch the carb intake.

kellylrossi's top tips

1.If you need to eat 5 small meals instead of 3 large ones, that is okay.
2.Make sure you are accounting for ALL carbs eaten (especially if eating out)
3.Lean meats are better than fatty meats for the caloric intake
4.If you want to substitute a protein shake for a meal, that is fine; watch the carbs and sugars. I use Isagenix Isalean shakes, but that is because I can blend my powdered multivitamins into it. Atkins shakes are also pretty good and lower in carbs and sugars than Isalean.
