The Food Pyramid Diet


 Summary:

This diet is based on the food pyramid. The food pyramid tells us what we need to feed our bodies every day to sustain it.

If we eat what our bodies need, it will not have to store fat to prepare for times of starvation. Many diets work on a principle of almost starving ourselves to achieve rapid weight loss. If we do not eat what our bodies need to sustain us each day, especially protein, our bodies end up using our muscles to keep going. If we starve our selves with all of these diets that promises rapid weight loss, we only end up losing water and muscle.

This diet is a fat free, high protein diet that WILL give you results if you follow it. You will feed your body and end up feeling healthy, energetic and strong.

 How To Follow The Food Pyramid Diet:

Before breakfast:
Slice of lemon in hot water OR a cup of green tea. It is a great way to start the day, and gets your metabolism going.

Breakfast:
1-2 slices whole wheat bread OR 1 cup high-fiber cereal/oats
AND
1 portion protein (1 egg/30g cheese/70g low fat meat/fish)
AND
One tomato or 5 mushrooms
AND
250ml fat free/skim milk.

Snack:
100ml fat free yogurt.

Lunch:
2-3 portions of fruit
OR
2 cups fruit salad.

Snack:
Green salad or veggies such as carrot sticks, cucumber, celery sticks...
AND
Fat free cottage cheese if you like.

Dinner:
1-2 portions of chicken/fish/meat - only lean protein
AND
Vegetables (2-3 portions) - try to eat a lot of green vegetables, and remember that no sugar/butter or sauces is allowed in cooking or eating vegetables.

Other:
Eat as much lettuce, peppers, onions, celery, cucumber as you like. Only "lite/diet/zero" beverages allowed, and NO fruit juice. Herbs and spices are great, as well as low fat/low-calorie sauces and dressing. No extra fat or sugar or sauces while cooking or eating food. Limited you sugar to 2 teaspoons a day, or use sweetener. Drink plenty water!!!

1.Drink plenty water - green tea is also great to get the metabolism going.
2.Eat your fruit and vegetables each day, it feeds your body with vitamins and minerals.
3.Protein is very important. Eat a protein each morning!
4.Extra sugar and fat is not allowed if you want to lose weight, so keep those cravings away and be strong!
5.It may be hard for the first few days, but as soon as you see the results in a week or two, and start feeling great, you will just want to keep going!!!
6.Nothing will ever taste as good, as being thin and healthy will feel...

About / History

A while back I was trying every diet there is to just lose weight, and I ended up doing crazy things like only eating yogurt for a week, or going on some or other soup diet that promises that I will lose 20 lbs in 10 days. The moment I stopped with these crazy diets, I would end up gaining everything I lost, and more. I realized that I was starving my body, in stead of giving it what it needs - and the weight I lost was never fat, it was water weight or muscle. I looked up the food pyramid, and studied it well. From there I developed this diet based on the food pyramid. If we feed our bodies as we should, it will have no reason to store fat for times of starvation. IT WORKS!!! I lost 20kg (about 40lb) last year in three - four months. I eat so unhealthy now, but I have kept off the weight I lost. I still have a lot of weight to lose, and started this diet again about a week ago. I feel healthy and happy, and have lost 2.1 kg in 5 days. I am motivated and proud of myself. It is so easy to be healthy and lose weight if you are doing it right!!!
