 Summary:

This is a back to basics gastric reboot diet.

1st week Protein shakes - 1800 - 1500 calories and in between 65 and 75 grams protein.
2nd week add reduce protein shake intake to accommodate full strength V8 drinks (2) 8 oz glasses, reduce calories to 1600 - 1350 calories, try to maintain protein levels.
3rd week add (2) 1 cup servings of chilli and reduce V8 drinks to 1/2 V8 and 1/2 water. Reduce protein shakes to maintain calories. Keep calories the same and protein.
4th week add 2 snacks that is cheese and crackers, nuts or trail mix 1/4 cup or fruit cup. Again reduce protein shakes to accommodate calories.
5th week you can now start substituting other forms of balanced protein and veggies, such as a salad with tuna. Hold lower calories and protein though.

All of these weekly eating sets can be expanded to a 2 week period except for the first week.

becca4d's top tips

1.eat slowly and chew food well
2.drink beverage 45 min before eat and 1-1/2 hrs after.
3.Protein shake should be drank over half hour period in small sips.
4.make large pan of chilli and separate into 1 cup servings. Freeze then pop in microwave for 2 mins when ready to eat.
5.cheese and snack crackers, read snack cracker package and split the serving amount in half.
6.Walk Daily

About / History

When I had my gastric by-pass they gave us a few nutrition classes first. As I went to my post surgery weigh ins I noticed after the first 3 months I kept hitting long periods of weight plateau. So I had to keep going back to what I had listed as my first week on this eating plan per what my surgeon suggested. After awhile this didn't work ether so, I modified what they told us in the classes and came up with this plan. I was back up to 198 lbs. and as of my weigh in 2 mins. ago I am down to 190 after 3 weeks.
