"Schlank im Schlaf" or "Insulintrennkost", a food combining diet aiming at regulating insulin levels.

 How To Follow HelaSonja's own diet:

Breakfast should consist of a combination of carbs and fat, no animal proteins, except butter and cream, and breakfast should be big, 3-4 rolls or slices of bread, jam, honey, butter or savory spreads, fruit or fruit juice, or cereals, but no milk, only cream, and should be really big - BMI over 30: 100 g carbohydrates, BMI below 30: 75 g carbohydrates. Lunch and dinner until feeling pleasantly satisfied.

Lunch is either carb-based or protein-based. If you choose the carb version you may have some dessert.

Dinner should always be based on proteins.

- no restriction on fat

- starchy veggies are only allowed with carb meals, non-starchy veggies can be eaten generously with all meals

- legumes should only be eaten at lunchtime

- rice and potatoes should be precooked and then reheated.

No snacking between meals or after dinner!

HelaSonja's top tips

1.Patience needed. The weight may not drop off overnight. It may initially even go up, as the body is getting used to having plenty nourishment, especially if you are diet experienced.
2.If possible stick to it at least one month before giving up!
3.Try some light sport like walking right after getting up in the morning as this will help activate you and your metabolism.
4.If you suffer from GERD try drinking 1 glass of water with freshly squeezed lemon juice. I don't need medication any longer

About / History

Many people are greatly successful with this diet.

After having used the guidelines for a while I adjusted them, as breakfast was fine, but the other 2 meals left me hopelessly stuffed, and the recommended mixed meal for lunch made extremely sleepy.
