I eat at 8am, 11am, & 4:30pm everyday like clock-work. I rarely eat out at restaurants and I've developed a passion for cooking. Coming home from a busy day to cook for my family has become like therapy. I try-out a new recipe each wk and I anxiously anticipate going to buy the new ingredients for the next culinary experiment
Beginning in January 2012 I lost 55lbs in 5 1/2 mnths.

I asked my daughter to abstain from eating a bag of Dorito's and she asked, "Why?"
Cramming a Dorito in my own mouth I said, "Because they're not good for you."
Her inquisitive reply, "Then why are you eating them?"
A light came on. I realized my pattern of life wasn't just putting nails in my coffin, but that it was also forging a path that I did not want my kids to follow. In order to change their diet, I would have to lead by example. My hypocrisy was so ridiculous that even a six-yr old could see-through it.
I have also been battling sickness as a result of a digestive disorder. Doctors have held nothing back in revealing that my diet over the last several years has played a significant role in my health struggles. In January 2012, it was well past the time to make a change, but one conversation with my daughter regarding the to-eat-or-not-to-eat question caused me to finally set my alarm for change on March 1, 2012. I had hoped 2012 would be my year, but I was admittedly off to a less than desirable start over two months in. However, March would serve to be a life-altering 30-day period for me.
In thirteen years I had digressed from running nearly a 5min mile to barely being able to walk up a flight of stairs w/o being winded. At 6''1" I ballooned from 145 lbs to 241 lbs during that period of time.
I came to realize that I was stewarding my finances better than my body -- which is crazy -- because finances will be irrelevant if I were to develop just one major illness. While I can't control all elements of my health I can at least control my side of things by filtering my intake.
I also realized that I was pleading with God to heal me of an illness that I brought on myself. Had I treated my body like the temple it is, I would not be facing my present challenges. How could I arrogantly ask God to fix something that I was continuing to tear up? For the first time in my life, I became convicted of gluttony.
