| 1. | A vegetarian diet may help you lose weight — if you make good food choices. | | 2. | Eat 4-5 small meals throughout the day. Plan 3 main meals and 2 snacks from foods that you already eat. Last meal should not be eaten less than 3 hours before bed. | | 3. | Plan your meals ahead of time. Use meals that you commonly eat and enjoy. Structure them to include, carb, protein, fat, veg. Portion them to not exceed 500 calories for main meal and 150-200 calories for snacks. (300/400/500 + snacks is a good guideline) | | 4. | Reduce Salty Carbs and Added Sugars: minimize snack foods (bread, chips, crackers, salty snacks) and sugared drinks. | | 5. | Drink water: at least 72oz. I drink 12 oz at each sitting and carry a 32 oz metal water container with me during the day. | | 6. | Exercise. Be consistent. Walking 30 minutes 5 days a week is easy and low impact - no need to be extreme. |
