It's good not to solely focus on the weight. You have got the right goals set and will follow through. I try to only weigh once a week and moved my weigh in day from Friday to Monday to coincide with our challenge.
I am 47 and was in the same shoes a year ago and for me the doctor just went ahead and put me on the meds. Being sort of hard headed I didn't always take them and it definitely showed up in my next blood work. At that time though I hadn't really changed a lot of my eating habits. Don't get me wrong, they are not perfect now, I still indulge on occasion but nothing like I used to, way more fresh fruits and veggies.
This is a journey we have all set out on and not a 50-yard dash. Where we are now did not happen overnight and will take time for our bodies to accept the healthy changes we are making.
