OK, as the admin of this challenge I get to post my story first. I have been overweight all my life, with things hitting a breaking point when a Drs. visit weigh in had me at 308 Lbs. I didn't feel good and was very unhappy with my health. Blood pressure and cholesterol numbers were just unacceptable. The dissatisfaction I needed for change was there.
I started walking during my lunch hour and eating better. I eliminated lots of carbs and started to eat more proteins and fats. My exercise continued and became a routine. I fell into a great rhythm and my schedule gave me many opportunities to get in exercise, sometimes twice a day. In the course of about 9 months, my weight was down to 235 lbs, I was running 5K races on a weekly basis, had loads of energy, and had additional benefits that improved health brought about. My blood pressure and cholesterol moved into the normal range as well.
Fast forward about 18 months later. Changes in my schedule, going back to college, and not sticking to my diet have caused me to slide back to some degree. I have gained 25 lbs. back and am hot happy about that. By creating this challenge, I hope to get back closer to my goal and help and inspire others to do the same.
