The Spring Slump Buster is starting this week. A few things before we actually start:1) Make sure you have a starting weight that is accurate.
I needed to update my weight to my post-holiday reality. While a little depressing (but not as bad as a I feared), it means that I will actually show LOSSES for the real challenges weigh-ins.2) Introduce yourself:
I'll post another thread for introductions and Pin it as an announcement so it's easy to find. I'd really like this challenge to be about a bit of community support more than anything else, so I'll probably post frequently (also ... I can't snack on chips and type at the same time. I anticipate posting a lot at 3PM each day
)3) Familiarize yourself with FS.
If you don't know where to start the general guideline is try to eat 500 fewer calories a day than you need, which is 3500 a week, which is one pound. FS has a calculator that helps you figure this out. If you know what kind of program you're following but just need a reminder to stay on track, that's what we're here for!
If you haven't done a challenge before, the week-to-week mini-challenges show up where you weigh-in. You can confirm if you've succeeded for the week, and you can write down thoughts/notes about that challenge.4) Remember: Week 1 has TWO challenges
- record everything you eat, and set a goal. #1 Record everything you eat:
For those of us trying to get back on track, this is the thing that keeps you on track. For those of you starting out, knowing what it is you are really consuming is the first step. This challenge is going be every week for the whole program, so let's start a good habit now.#2 Set a goal:
Why are you here? It can be very general: "eat healthier", "eat less junk food/sugar/saturated fat/sodium", "exercise more so it's a daily activity", "set a good example for my kids", etc. It can also be very specific: "Lose 1 lb a week", "lose 5 pounds", "lose a jeans size", "achieve a mini-goal on the way to larger weight loss". You can either post your goal in your introduction or just put it in the Mini-Challenge recorder under the Weigh In - it's that easy.
Looking forward to seeing how much we can accomplish!
