How about one topic where we can all share what we're finding that helps us achieve our goal! Any tips, tricks, recipes, mini challenge ideas, pieces of encouragement and motivation... ANYTHING that you think might help others stay focused and continue working towards our overall goal!

Don't be shy, doesn't have to be life changing... you'd be surprised how something small can be so meaningful to someone else, so share! It can be part of your random acts!

Great idea!

My first ones are:

Diary everything! Preferably before you eat it! Seeing how many calories are in something helps put me off eating it nine times it of ten. And when you get a steady or a gain out of the blue you can look back and KNOW is just water or something else.

Once you have a week or two's diaries look through them and identify your biggest calorie sources and try and find things you can replace then with that give you the same feel and bulk without the calories!

Bulk things out where you can't completely replace! 100g of thinly sliced steak and 200g of sliced mushrooms stir-fried together makes a nice meaty entree with a lot less calories than 300 g of steak.

Try everything even if you normally hate the components. I loathe Cauliflower as a vegetable. But Cauliflower "rice" works because it's not fully cooked and mild enough to not facts like Cauliflower. Similarly pureed with swede and carrot it makes a nice smooth mash replacement that I actually like.

Another tip.

INDULGE YOURSELF!!!

If you want a piece of chocolate have one. But enjoy it to it's fullest. Find ways to make that indulgence last as long as possible and get every single iota of pleasure from it.

If you, like me, cannot open a packet of your preferred snacks and eat just one serving. Then spend the extra and buy the individually packaged kinds. Or even just a single bar if that's what you have to do to stick to just one.

Find other ways to indulge yourself once a week without food.

Take a class.

Have a massage, or get your nails done etc etc etc...

Take a long indulgent scented bubblebath (You know the kind with candles and music. Waterproof MP3 speakers are quite cheap if you are worried). Guys I know it sounds girlie but it's a great way to relax (Though personally I've never understood the candles thing).

Even a long hot shower with something expensive that smells great can be an indulgence (Stop snickering Jonny).

DO SOMETHING JUST FOR YOU!

Don't deprive yourself. It is all about moderation and a healthy way of life. We are teaching ourselves a new way to eat and it is going to be a challenge. If we do the things that got to where we were before, then the weight will creep back up. This is a journey not a race.

Agreed. I am trying to allow myself the foods I still love, but in moderation. Watching serving sizes and measuring does work. If you take the time to measure out a serving of ice cream, chocolate, chips, or whatever the food is you really want it is worth it. Or cut the serving in half and only eat a small amount. One thing that I love is chocolate, and I keep a candy dish full of chocolate on my desk to share. I will maybe have 1 small square of chocolate or a hershey's kiss a day, and I've learned that's all I really need. Everyone has their moments when they give in to temptation, but if you get back up after that and keep going you will succeed. Learn from your mistakes and don't give up on yourself!

I do have to agree when I track thing first before eating them my weight loss is better! My thing is, I allow my children to interfere with my progress. What I mean is, they all start as soon as we hit the door, I AM HUNGRY NOW! So, then it gets me in a panic mode and it goes down hill from there. Any suggestions? I am dong ATKNS.
