Good Morning!

Went to a music event at a winery last night and I'm still awake. Didn't get any strength training in and took a rest on the cardio so 3 points and 1834 steps for Friday. I swear, I need to start moving more during the day! K, have a big day planned - 30+ bike ride and my goal is to conquer that fiber monster.

So, before I go off to sleep I found these two tips on yahoo

1. If you're not eating the right nutrients at the right times, your sweat sessions might send your appetite into overdrive. Eating smarter after exercise is key for controlling appetite, supplying the nutrients your body needs for peak performance, and speeding muscle recovery.
That means noshing on a protein- and carb-rich snack of about 150 calories to help refuel tired muscles. And yes, you do need to eat something. If you don't, you may burn muscle-which ultimately slows metabolism-since your muscles won't have any glycogen supplies from food to use as a fuel source.

2. "There's a strong pull for the body to maintain its current weight. It will adjust your metabolism to keep you at that set point," says Liponis. But if you eat more nutritiously, focusing on what your body really needs, it will eventually get the message. "After about a year, your body readjusts its set point, so maintaining it becomes effortless."

The same diet won't work for everyone; you have to know your specific metabolism type in order to successfully lose weight, keep it off, and change your set point, says Dr. Liponis. He's broken it down into farmers, who should graze on small bites and restrict fat, and hunters, who should eat less often and cut back on grains and sugar. Pear shapes tend to be farmers while apple shapes tend to be hunters.

Have a great day!

Morning all,

For yesterday,

steps - 11,857
track-n
fiber-n
strength-n
snack-y

Headed out for the theme park soon. It's gonna be a long day, hubby says he wants to drive back tonight. Yuck! Still debating on wearing my fitbit today, definitely don't want her to get drowned on the water rides.

Have a great day all.

Morning Sassies!

Friday: 5 points
steps - 9553
fiber - 38.9
log food - yes
no snack - yes
strength - yes!

going to Detroit Maker Faire today - gonna be lots of steps. Quick bike ride before I go. Then my sis & niece are coming over for sleepover, that will be fun. Smile

Hot Momma Becky - go you! Cool
Have fun at the amusement park, Pam!
Interesting tips, Reneee. I hope I am a farmer - definitely pear shaped! but grazing and lowfat is much more appealing to me than the hunter-style.

Excited for the weekend challenge, I can do this! Gonna have to break up the situps though, they kill my back, too. Kind of disappointing, I was good at them in gym class in elementary....a long, long time ago!

Have a good day, everyone!

Morning Sassies,

Points for Fri:5
Steps for Fri: 10,174

As of Sept I will no longer be on Jillian Michaels website too since it's not geared towards those of us like me who have already lost the weight and are working hard to maintain.

I'll be here on fitbit and on Spark People as well. Hope everyone has a great day and will check in later today.

Good morning,

Renee good tips

Pam water park fun yehhhhhhhhh no don't wear fitbit in water area not worth the risk to damage it......leave it in the car....

Meg faire fun times, lots of steps....

Sarah the hardest part is in maintaining....I am still on part 2 losing ,

to me it goes like this

part 1 -acknowledging and accepting and starting the weight loss journey

part 2 - working hard to lose the weight no matter how long it takes (put no pressure on yourself)

part 3 - maintenance, lifetime commitment to ones self to work to keep it off...

steps for Frid- 5907 points 4

today is work day, debating on wether to take the little ones to camp tomorrow night after work for the night, I owe them an overnight. I may as well get it done. bon fire, walks, it is just that the weather is so cold right now. I sure dont feel like camp weather.

enjoy today and call a friend say hello.......................

Denise--You are so right about the 3 parts and it is a lifetime commitment. I slipped up a couple of weeks on my diet and got out of leeway by 1.25lbs but lost 3.75lbs the next week to get back in before I lost my KOPS status.

We had a great night last night at the baseball game. Didn't get home until 10:30. Figured the kids would still be sleeping but all up by 8:00. Fireworks at the end of the game was the highlight of the night!!! The kids had smiles from ear to ear!!

Steps for Friday were 15334 and sadly to say I had 1 point. oopf!

My husband will be home soon since he couldn't sleep and started driving at 2:30 this morning. Ugh I can sleep any time!!

Going to start the challenge now and take lots of Ibuprofen cuz I feel the pain before I have even started.

Good info Renee and Pam have fun at the amusement park!!

Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Denise you working a full day today?

Sherry when do you start your new job?

Laurie I need a manicure! What's the best for my nails without spending a fortune? Ha

Donna how far North again do you go? We are heading to northern WI on Friday.

Ok I better go eat breakfast. Feeling hungry! No caffeine this morning..............I have no creamer!

Up a pound. Hoping to shed it by Monday and possibly a bit more........Fingers crossed.

Morning.....have my tea with a drop of honey from the county I live in. "Experts" have said it is good to have the honey from your area.

Usual 4 points for me. Thru half of the weekend challenge. Other half later.

Have a good Saturday!

Quick check in. Just had breakfast. Going to start strength challenge. Sore from strength I did yesterday. Must have moved the wrong way.

Bren, I bought local honey too because I was getting so much respiratory junk which could have been due to allergies. Local honey is supposed to help with that. I had a round of cough in May and then again in June. None so far since then.

Check in later with stats!

Becky

Oh, also just finally took out my ticker and signature since my weight is not getting updated in this challenge forum. Going to let it go that way for a little bit and try putting it back in. So here goes... is it below????

Hello Sassies!!

Just wanted to check in before I start the challenge. I have laundry and cleaning to do today also, and I hope to get back to the Y later this afternoon.

Renee, thanks for the tips. I am an apple and have been following Atkins. I seem to do better by eliminating carbs. Also, you can post your hometown as soon as you are ready. We will try to start the new walking challenge on Monday.

Pam, Have fun today! Which theme park are you going to?

Meg, I too, will be breaking up the sit-ups. Enjoy the Faire.

Sarah, what eating plan do you follow?

Denise, I would probably wait for warmer weather...surely it will be warmer in August.

Susan, ibupropen = good idea. I did my drug test yesterday and they will call as soon as the results come and give me a start date. Oh yeah, I am drinking hazelnut just for you!

Anne, take your time. You'll get back to where you were.

Brenda and Becky, I also read that honey from your area helps with allergies. I need to try it.

Laurie, I am going to do the challenge today and tomorrow. I will let you know how I feel later...

Donna, Have fun up North!

Getting busy!

Good afternoon!

Did the strength challenge today and boy am I feeling it! On top of that I had 145 crunches and 145 russian twists for my ab challenge AND 19 pushups for my pushup challenge, both of which end tomorrow!!!! I am not taking on a new challenge to replace those because I am going to concentrate on running the month of August to get ready for that 5K.

Food track ~ check
Steps ~ 7012
Strength ~ check, yesterday I must have moved the wrong way because I had some muscle near my thigh/hip area that is sore when I walk and on the other leg I'm still feeling that sore knee.
Fiber ~ check
No snack ~ check

Enjoy your Saturday!

Well, I've finished most of the weekend challenge and will finish it in just a few minutes. If I do this today and tomorrow and I don't show a loss on Monday, I think I will cry...

This is a great challenge and really pushes me to my limit. I need Aleve...

Hello all and might I say it is a gorgeous day here in NE!!! Love it!

I went out and ran 3.3 miles today. I did have to take several breaks and fast walk to catch my breath. Felt awesome. I did 3 miles in 36 min and some odd seconds. Whew!!! Ok funny story when I was out on my venture. So I am into one mile of this run and we have a sub division that is not developed with homes yet. right now the Buddhist Temple is on the land and a farmer who has planted corn. Ok so I am running down this road and I was to turn left, well there is a man peeing in the corn field. I was like ok? So do I turn left or do I go right and come back. I chose to go right because when I came to the corner he wasn't done. Seriously? WOW. Glad I went right cuz about 40 yards in front of me a deer came out of the field and stopped on the side of the road looked at me and then kept running into the corn field on the other side of the road. I wave at it like it was going to say hi or something. LOL LOL!!! Pretty cool!

I have done a few of the challenges and my thighs are on fire already from running and the squats. Ugh I'll do more.

Oh Sherry HOW I LOVE HAZELNUT creamer!!!!

Until later...............cya

Afternoon teamies, 7298 and 5 pts.

Four hours of tennis and I was so well rested today I felt strong when I was playing my movement was good. That is a nice feeling instead of sore knees. Half challenge thru. I really like boxing part and trying to move my feet too. I,d knock myself out in the ring tripping. I posted challengen to wk 4 strength last nite. If need quick reference. I took my blood pressure today and it was 95/ 69 and it use to be 140/90 then 110 /80 was normal. Only thing I changed is diet. I have never had blood pressure that low.

Renee, I,m a farmer, lol I do have to watch high fat. Is your sister joining us?

Susan, protect the girls,lol

Susan, I had a really good laugh about the guy peeing. I'm glad you turned right. Sounds like a very adventurous run.

Laurie, I'm following Atkins and my creamer is sugar-free and is allowed. I am counting carbs and it seems to be working for me. I am a hunter. Aaaarrrrgh! LOL!!

Also, if I don't allow myself some pleasure, I will fail. I just have to figure out what works and what doesn't. What I need to give up completely is alcohol, but I enjoy hanging with my friends and having a drink...

I guess it is all about the balance.
Sherry

Oh yeah! Steps for Friday were 7209 and 5 points.
