Good Morning!!

Hope everyone has been having a wonderful weekend. We were in Victoria, BC for the weekend doing some cycling with friends. I was trying to get home for the Stampede but it was too much traveling for such a short amount of time. I felt like I was being "bad" with my food choices, giving myself the excuse that I was on holiday with friends but as it turns out, after accounting for everything I didn't do so bad Smile And the scales agree too, although I do still have a bit of a hangover Shock

sometimes we think we did wrong and yet it is ok, then other times we think we did great then once we write it down, oh no we did not.....
life is odd and funny at times.

Good morning!

I was kind of sitting around reading, doing bills, etc yesterday til about 3 when I decided it was time to go grocery shopping. Then I smashed my baby toe really bad on a doorway, bent it back it wow it hurt, so sat and iced it for a bit, then hobbled around to get what I needed for dinner, made dinner and sat with my foot up or iced or in a bucket of cold water the rest of the night. so not much movement. At first I thought I could still do the strength, since I do modified knee pushups anyhow, but I was just too exhausted from the pain. :/ Feels a lot better this morning, but not good by any means...gonna see if I can ride my bike in a minute here.

I did try something new for dinner, based on a recipe from The Chew which I found via the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans which I got to from the link Laurie posted with our strength exercises. Their recipe used chicken but I decided to also try cooking tofu at home. I like tofu when we order take out chinese or thai, but never cooked it at home before. The recipe at The Chew had a lot of comments about it having errors, so I kind of took their ingredient list and winged it. So, 3 points for yesterday + 1 point for trying something new.

Not sure I'll get 10K steps in today since I will mostly be standing in one spot depending on how busy we are but might try and step in place between customers or move about and straighten shelves.

Morning- Again a quick hello. Off to son's t-ball game and then we are heading to KC for an overnight and head to the waterpark!! CoCo Keys is attached to the hotel we are staying at. Fun times.

I don't remember if I told you all that my husband got the job he was interviewing for. Best part of it all is that we get to stay here in Nebraska and don't have to move!! Whew!

I am doing my weigh in today since I won't be by a scale tomorrow.

Steps for Saturday were 4324 and 2 points.

Recipe: Baked Spaghetti Squash with meatballs

Spaghetti Squash
Prepared meatballs or make your own favorite meatballs.
1 cup marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce.
1/2 cup each, mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
fresh basil- optional
Cut a spaghetti squash in half lengthwise. (hint, put in microwave for about 20-30 sec and it will cut easier) scoop out seeds.

sprinkle olive oil and bake with cut side down about 40 min 375 degree
on a baking sheet.

Cool slightly and increase oven to 400 degree.

With a fork scrape up the spaghetti squash from the rind and fluff into strands. Keep in the rind. place meatballs over the spaghetti squash, marinara sauce and sprinkle with cheese.

Bake until cheese melt and is bubbly.
Add fresh basil on top for garnish.

This is my point for a new recipe posted.

Today my plan is to get some hubby time in and then hit the books. I am studying to get an insurance license. And I am trying to get one of the tests done before we leave for Oregon next week. I may have set my goal to high, going a little brain dead, lol.

Oh Meg, I can so relate to your pain. I did that to my pinky toe a long time ago and left it go for a while until I developed a bruise on the side of my foot that wouldn't go away. Finally went to the podiatrist and low and behold I hit the door so hard that I had a hairline fracture on that side of my foot and wound up in one of those ever so fashionable surgical shoes for a month. Hope that isn't the case for you. Feel better.

Anne - good for you! Good luck with the studying.

Steps yesterday 6,195 and four points since that sneaky snack monster got me after dinner.

Hello all!

I'm glad to see this weekend over with! (I'm in retail, and a 4-day weekend seems to be the perfect excuse for throeing extra parties!) That, and all of the party food is finally ouy of my kitchen!

No Snack - no...hot out, ate the sherbert again. Grr...I have little controle when I know that I have the room in mg DRI.

Hello everyone I returned.. LOL

Went up to Caseville Michigan, was a beautiful weekend in the 80's and sunny since Friday and was rainy today, which I never mind when you have to come home anyways...

Saturday - 10,791 - 4 points, ate after dinner.. ugh..

All in all not bad considering what was up in the closet up there..

Denise - You seem like you have been sick for a while now - what does the Doctors say? Maybe time to go? Sounds like you are going to work tonight - Hope its a nice and easy night for you.

Laurie - Loved the movie, Heat, one liners and laughed out loud so many times.. May need to get the tic tacks and put on my bosses desk.. NOT.. but would be very funny... Loved the end too, with the cat.. However, it was a true feel good movie..

Susan - When do you get your fitbit? Sounds like the first party went well, when is the kids party again? PS, Love spaghetti squash and most of the squash family.

Just a little update...we are as of right now, 62 miles from Kat's. Kat, you posted a little early, but that is ok. We are glad you were excited for us to get there. Wink Our next stop is Laurie's house in Boise, Idaho. It is 688 miles and will take us approximately 2 weeks to get there.

I'm gonna relax tonight and watch tv. Everyone have a great evening!

Hey Sassies! Didnt get to stop in yesterday. My steps for friday were 5339 and earned 5 points.

As for yesterday...i had a much needed girls night out. My friend really wanted Olive Garden so we went. I know i went WAY over calories but i dont feel too bad. I made sure to stay under calories today. After dinner we went shopping and to a movie. It was really late when i got home so i didnt get to do my strength. So here are my stats for saturday:

Track: N didnt track dinner at Olive Garden
Steps: 6388
Strength: N
Fiber: Y
No food after dinner: Y

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I did something very uncharacteristic of me and kept my computer OFF all day Saturday and most of Sunday. Surprisingly, I SURVIVED! But it does mean I need to report for both Friday and Saturday.

Friday I get 4 points -
Track - yes
Strength - No
Steps - 8369 steps
Fiber - Yes
No Snacks - Yes

For Saturday 3 points:
Track - Yes
Steps - 7824
Strength - No
Fiber - yes
No Snacking - no

My 10K is done, and now I'm starting to work towards completing a half marathon. It will be a little over double the distance, but I'm learning that if I take my time and train well I CAN do these amazing things. The race is on my 40th birthday - and is part of my training for the ultimate goal - running the Disney Marathon in January (yes, I am signed up! No, I'm not a runner.).

I look like I'm a strength slacker so I want to explain that I haven't been doing the strength exercises assigned, but I am doing strength training. I do yoga several times a week (I need it because my body gets so tight from this new running), and it has done amazing things for my upper body strength. The exercises assigned right now are not a challenge for me (I didn't know this until I tried them and was pleasantly surprised), so I am continuing my yoga (which is working to strengthen an old wrist injury and build these amazing arms I never thought were possible for me) instead of the assigned exercises.

Denise - my first thought would have been that it didn't matter to me if I was inside or outside, but really I think I'm an outdoor person. I love the windows open and smelling fresh air (which is not always a possibility in the humid summers of Atlanta). I can't run indoor on a treadmill, have trouble with the smell of indoor pools and basically get bored indoors. But I love being near streams or beaches, being in the sunshine and don't even mind running in the summer rains of Atlanta.

SOMETHING NEW: I check out a different cookbook from the library every week or two for new ideas, copy the few recipes I might use and then return it. This is the new recipe I'll be trying this week:

Fish Fillets with Zesty Rosemary Oil

(serves 4)
4 tilapia fillets (about 4 ounces each)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
1/2 medium garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed

Rinse the fish, pat dry with a towel.

Heat a 12 inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook the fish for 3 minutes on each side, or until the fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Transfer to a platter.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together the remaining ingredients.

To serve, drizzle the sauce over the fish.

Donna welcome home, yup working...sick still but I did go to doctors last wk and got 10 day antibiotics , but still congested but am sruviving, it seems to be going around here alot in our town.....every 2nd person has a summer cold..... nice...............

Sherry 2wks yeh ....I will try and help out with more steps to do my part.....

Laurie 4 hr tennis your a good athlete I would say.....

recipe:

1 cup greek yogurt
almond milk a smidge
1/2 strawberries
1/2 raspberries
blend all together in blender
pour into 1/2 cup servings
freeze about 30 mins and enjoy a tasty healthy treat.....
and the rest leav in freezer for when the next cravings creeps up

Jen ,

I walked the Portland marathon and that,s always a choice. The strength exercises are not challenging for me either but it,s a shared challenge and we have all different levels. It does progress. It,s more about a group effort. Denise taught me that. Whatever your comfortable with works for me. I would love to turn this computer off. I will take a tech break soon but I love my tablet anytime, anywhere. I have fresh rosemary let me know if u like I usually use capers,lemon and garlic oh my. Laurie

Evening~Smile This great holiday weekend is coming to an end. The guest dog has gone home, my dog has had a bath, spent the day with hubs house power cleaning. We had guests last night for a fire and pizza. Went over board, but I did end up tracking it. Crying or Very sad

So, that is 3 for me today.
Something new~~At Trader Joe's bought a protein shake mix. 90 calories, 14g of protein, 2 WW pts. I am feeling maybe why I am SO HUNGRY ALL THE TIME is maybe because I need more protein. I don't eat a lot of meat, so I am giving this a try. I blend it in with my yogurt and fruit. Very tasty and filling. SO...is that a point?
