I've learned a valuable lesson today... Run slower.
I am on week 5 of the Couch 2 5k plan. The most I have run before, in one go, was 5 minutes, and it nearly killed me. Today I had to run 2 lots of 8 minutes. The thought of it made me feel sick, I got to 3 minutes and nearly gave in. What I did instead was reduce my speed by 0.5 km and it felt brilliant. I managed to do both lots of 8 minutes with no problem, although I still sweated, and I could have gone on longer. On Saturday I have to do 20 mins running in one go, and I can't wait.
I just wondered for anyone else running on a treadmill what speed to you do?
Before I was doing my fast walking as 6 km/h but now I do 5.5 km/h, and the running was 7 km/h but from now on I am doing 6.5 km/h. I would rather go slower, but for longer. I can always increase the speed as I get fitter.
I would love to know how everyone else is getting on
