Challenge Forum: Another way to avoid munchies.

Hi all. Here's a hint that I've found extremely helpful. I've also joined a Challenge to cut down on caffeine and not have ANY caffeine after 2 pm.

Here's what happens to me. I work full time and have 2 young boys. When I get home from work, I'm exhausted. So I have 1 diet coke to get me thru the rest of the evening's activities. Which works, but then when the boys are in bed and it's time for me to unwind, I can't. I sit down to do some paperwork, pay some bills, etc. But I'm too tired to concentrate, and too awake to go to sleep. So I sit and watch TV and, you guessed it, munch!

So by cutting out the evening sodas, it's been easier to cut out the evening munchies as well. Just something I wanted to share with all of you. Good luck everyone!

That's a great tip Amy. I've been avoiding the late night munchies pretty well by working out after work instead of before in the morning. By doing that, all I do is come home, make a great dinner, shower and I watch my shows on the DVR for about an hour. Then I start my nightly beauty routine (wash face and brush teeth). Working out at night has helped me because I don't want to negate everything that I just put in at the gym. And doing my nightly routing earlier...I would hate to ruin my minty fresh breath and freshly flossed teeth by eating! Smile This has definitely helped in avoiding the late night munchies.

I do the same with my routine. I read somewhere that for most people, the optimal time of day to exercise is between 4:00-6:00pm. I work out after I get home (before dinner) and then after dinner, we usually will take our dogs for a walk. During all of that activity, I drink a LOT of water and that helps fend off my appetite.
