Hey Everyone!
At this point we all know one for sure thing about each other.. we are working at getting this weight off of us. August8 had a great idea regarding finding a buddy for herself and I want to see more of that. So here is a mini challenge for everyone to get jump started while we wait on the 25th.

Respond off of this post so all responses are together.

My challenge to you:
Tell us about you. I'm looking for things that would help you find something in common with someone else (perhaps your soon-to-be buddy).

Answer the following questions and add anything more you would like us to know:

1. When did you start dieting/exercising?

2. How much weight left do you have to lose?

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. Laughing )

4. Is there a specific diet you are following?

5. Kids/Martial Status?

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)

7. What state do you live in? (For Time Zone purposes)

Start with things like this. I think August8 was right. It would be nice to buddy with someone that you have things in common with. While work schedule isn't important the reason I put it on there is because I have been comtemplating quite a bit about finding a buddy and exchanging cell phone numbers. Not to hound each other or anything like that but maybe coordinate a good time to call each other and take a walk with each other on the phone for company. Just an idea.. I look forward to getting to read about you all!

Hi all! I joined FS a while back but have never really spent a lot of time reaping it's benefits. I've gotten to the point in my life where if I'm going to make major changes it needs to be now, no more putting it off! I've joined a few challenges now and would like to be successful.

I'd like a buddy that I have a few things in common with so here's what I'm all about:

I need to lose about 30-40 lbs
I am a 36 year old wife and a mother of 4 kids and 2 stepkids ranging in ages 3 - 17
I commute an hour each way to a full-time job
My husband works opposite shift than I do so most nights I feel like a single mother!
My diet of choice is Atkins
I plan on doing a mix of cardio and strength training

Looking forward to giving and receiving much needed support!!

And for me..

I'm 27 and from Rochester, NY. I started my diet 4/24/12. I had lost almost 40 pounds previously in 2007 and while dieting/exercising I ended up hurting my back and being hunched over for two and a half months. Needless-to-say, having nothing to do but sit on the couch and eat did not help my progression and eventually I was right back to where I started with 5 additional pounds for my trouble. At this point I have just about 40 more pounds to go to my goal weight of 150. As of now, I'm not following any particular diet. Back in 2007 though, I was doing LA Weightloss (which gave me a real good idea of what worked for me when it came to dieting). So I have incorporated some things I've learned from LA Weightloss and even with some variations I'm doing decently well. I do not have any children at this point (and the current joke to myself is that when I get to 150 that's when I'll get pregnant because that is just my luck Laughing ) but I do have an 8 year old Step Son and I have been in a relationship with his dad since 2009. My boyfriend has been an awesome support system and we do quite a bit of walking after work and on the weekends. I work 8am-5pm Monday-Friday and I'm usually home about 6pm EST. If I did decide to buddy up on walks it will preferably be at night because I'm more of a night person (and it's cooler.. usually). Other than that everyone, I'm extremely silly. I will joke and laugh at myself. I like to try to help people and I try terribly not to take things too seriously. I'm excited to have found this site after downloading the app for my smartphone and even more excited to see that this challenge is growing in number. Good Luck Everyone!

Hi

This is actually my first challenge on here. I joined a few months ago on the recommendation of my housemate, but have kind of been neglecting any form of dieting.

Any tips would be appreciated!!!

I'm 20, and from Durham, UK Smile

I've tried dieting before, but nothing really that organised, and I've never really lost a vast amount. I currently weigh 14 stone 3 pounds (199 lb) and my overall target is to weigh 10 stone 5 pounds (145 lb)

Like I said, I'm 20, and currently live with students, although I work full-time at McDonalds myself (I'm on a gap-year, won't go into details right now, but it's not a secret why I dropped out!). I'm a bit of a picky eater, and LOVE chocolate. Bad times. I also get free food on my break at work, and as I live like a student, even though I work, I'm just as broke, so turning down free food is hard because it means I don't have to spend as much.

I re-start University at the end of September, which is my reason for starting this challenge!!! I'm hoping I can walk home from work and stuff like that too, which will be my exercise. I live in a very hilly city and the walk would take a while Smile

Hi let me tell you a lil about me .

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? I started dieting in December of 2010 and had great success at first and gave up as I had to much stuff going on @ once. I AM NOT going to give up this time.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose? I would like to be at like 135-145 lbs so I have @ least 62 - 72 more lbs .

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. )
I am 32 as of April 25 this year

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? Not following any specific diet.

5. Kids/Martial Status? I have 4 kids , 2 daughters ages 16 and 11 1/2 ,
2 sons ages 15 and 9 1/2 . I am married to a wonderful man been married for 14 1/2 years , been together for 17 years 3 days after I turned 15 LOL

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)
I do not work , I have fibromyalgia ,RA along with other health issues.

7. What state do you live in? (For Time Zone purposes)
I live in Veedersburg,Indiana

I also have a nickname I go by and have for 31 years LOL : Crickett

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? Seems like this has been a lifetime struggle. Sad My last chapter started Sept, 2009. I have lost 55 lbs. I attend TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) weekly: weigh in, support. Tend to be an emotional/ stress eater but working on implementing new stress relieving techniques. Focusing on life balance to succeed, which I will! Smile

2. How much weight left do you have to lose? 60+ lbs ~ depends on how I look/ feel when I reach that number. May go down more???

3. How old are you? 51. Age does make a difference on how our bodies lose weight. The journey is a lot tougher in my 50's versus my 30's. Wish I had truly understood this years earlier & worked that much harder in my 30s. My mindset is that age is just a number & I CAN & WILL lose weigh & get healthier.

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? Presently, counting calories with focus on high protein & trying to lower sugar/ carb intake.

5. Kids/Martial Status? Married 26 years. 4 kids: 29, 27, 26. & 21. Only 21 yr still @ home) 3 grandkids.

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)Not working presently.

I am attempting to step out of my comfort zone to create a new active lifestyle. Presently, stretched myself to participate in an intense bootcamp program min. 3 x a week.

Presently, I am SO frustrated! I have been stuck in this same spot for 6 mos. now. I would greatly benefit from a buddy to encourage me past these barriers that I seem not to be able to conquor. Also, looing forward to the challenge to start.

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? This year was the last straw of gaining weight and doing yoyo diets for two weeks. I have been consistently exercising and eating clean since Feb this year.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose? My first goal is 75kg by the start of September and ultimate is 68kg by the start of 2013.

3. How old are you? 26 Smile

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation (trainer on biggest loser australia)

5. Kids/Martial Status? Married 13months ago and trying for babies

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)Thankfully 8-4.30pm everyday Mon - Fri and weekends off. First time in years and glad to get a proper routine

Hi All!

I'm Holly and have been a member here for a while, however, not very diligent. I'm currently at a phase in my life where I want to get to my weight and stay there. I'm sick of dieting and I'm sick of being uncomfortable in my own skin. I want to suck it up and get this done once and for all!

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? I started dieting about 9 years ago, before I got preggers with my second child and it's been up and down since then.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose?My goal is 135, so...38 pounds (ugh!!Crying or Very sad )

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. ) I will be 35 in August

4. Is there a specific diet you are following?Currently, I'm going extreme. I'm on the HCG diet. I have always done weight watchers in the past, but it never stays off for long.

5. Kids/Martial Status? I have to sons (15 & Cool and was married in September to the love of my life. We've been together for 7 years now.

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)I work days, M-TR, 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. I prefer texting over talking because I answer phones all day on a Helpdesk. It's more convenient also if contact needs to be made and I'm on a call Smile .

7. What state do you live in? (For Time Zone purposes)Originally I'm from Florida (29 years). Now I live in Tennessee. I'm Eastern Time zone.

Hi everyone

I am super excited about this challenge. It fits in exactly with my end goal.

I finally pulled my finger out and decided to actually USE this Fatsecret website only this week. After our first proper summer weekend in Northern CA, I saw a picture of myself wakesurfing. I didn't even recognise myself. I thought it was a picture of a friend whom I've always considered 'chubby', but it was ME! This has spurred me into action. October is still summer in California and I'm determined to spend at least some of the sunny days this year in a sun dress that fits.

So, I would love a buddy for this challenge, and it would be great to find someone with some of the same history or story or even goals. Here is a bit about me:

1. When did you start dieting/exercising?
This week. I moved to San Francisco from Sydney, Australia, 3.5years ago, since the move, I've slowly put on 43lbs when compared to what was my 'standard' weight of between 54 and 57kg (119-125lb) for the ten years before I left Australia. I know some of it is just a part of getting older, but a LOT of it has to do with the portion sizes here, as well as the absence of a gym in my life.
I previously controlled my weight by working out 4/5 days a week, and counting calories in, and out. Pretty simple! So I figure I'm just going to do that again (I do need to find my way back to a gym!).

2. How much weight left do you have to lose?
I have 38.5lbs left to lose.

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. )
I am 34

4. Is there a specific diet you are following?
I count calories like a demon and am very good at being super strict with myself (I am a bit of a control freak once I decide to own a project).
I also follow a mostly vegan diet. This isn't an political stance, I'm just conscious that eating less meat and animal products is generally better for my body. We tend to restrict meat and animal products to a max of two days a week, though it can be hard, as my job requires me to travel, eat out a lot, and entertain.

5. Kids/Martial Status?
No kids. Married earlier this year (January).

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)
I work a lot, no set schedule. I'm generally in the office between 8am and 6pm, but always online. so if you crave instant gratification on your latest journal entry, I am the buddy for you. I am not the right buddy for you if you prefer to chat on the phone.

7. What state do you live in? (For Time Zone purposes)
I am in Northern California.

In addition to the information above, for the sake of clarity, I'm a female (In Northern CA, the sundress reference isn't necessarily definitive), and my biggest challenge with losing the weight is going to be the large amount of eating out and travelling that is required by my job.

I have been on the site several times but have not really done anything. I am going to try and get this challenge done, was just diagnosed with diabetes, so that is the driving factor.

I am rather new to the website, this is my first challenge, I have no buddies, and I’m still learning day by day a new button on the site. So I am open to all and any advice and support. Good luck to everyone!.

1. When did you start dieting/exercising?
I started dieting/ exercising with 100% commitment in April.. I had started originally in January but got injured in Feb-March so I got side-lined.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose?
I still have 77lbs to lose to get back to my regular weight.

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. )
I am 26 yrs old.

4. Is there a specific diet you are following?
I am currently enrolled at a weight center that I visit every two weeks, and their main food structure is to have 3 main meals a day, which entails including a lot of protein, whole grains and vegetables.

Currently I am single and have no kids.

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)
I recently just finished a dog-walking job, so basically I am unemployed currently.

Good luck to you all! I am the only one dieting in my circle of friends and family, so linking up with you guys is great. I don't feel so alone in this anymore! Smile

Here is a little bit about me:
1. I started dieting and execising on 7 May 2012.
2. I have lost 9.4kgs (20.7lbs) and still need to lose 26kgs (58lbs).
3. I am 42.
4. I use a combination of Atkins and a diet I got from SureSlim.
5. I am married with 2 children (18 and 16).
6. I commute an hour each way to a full-time job.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose? I would like to loose 55lbs if not a little more but Id be very happy at 175lbs

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? Im currently trying to do the atkins diet and also trying to restrict my calories to 1200 per day

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? I started in high school and was unsuccessful until my divorce. I lost 110lbs, kept it off for 2yrs then put back on 70! I've lost 28lbs of that and am still going strong.

2. How much weight left do you haveto lose? 47lbs


3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. ) I am 41 and loving it Smile

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? Trimulean (www.chews4health.com/43223). It has been such a break through for me. I also loved the book YOU on a diet and learned a lot. Especially diet SMARTER not harder. Cravings are virtually non existent, I'm able to deal with my emotions instead of devouring them with food, and best of all it nourishes my body and works WITH it so that I'm healthier all the way around.

5. Kids/Martial Status? Happily 2nd married Smile 9 children, 2 grandchildren, 50 chickens, 2 pigs, 1 cat NAMED chicken and a partridge in a pear tree lol.

Hi Everyone,
Im ready to kick start my weight loss once again but this time I am sooo serious and finally ready to do something about the way I look!!!

1. When did you start dieting/exercising?
I've been back and forth since 2008 after having my last baby and I was 250lbs I got down to 180 and now here i am back at 206!

2. How much weight left do you have to lose?
I never hit my goal of 145.. that is my goal 145-150lbs so I have 56-61 lbs to lose


3. How old are you?
I am 28 years old and would like to be set in my ideal body before I hit 30 lol

4. Is there a specific diet you are following?
Right now I am on the Atkin's diet in the Introduction Phase

5. Kids/Martial Status?
I am Married with 3 boys.. a apart of my self neglect.. other mothers can relate lol

6. Work schedule?
I work 8-6pm Mon thru Fri except for Wed I dont go in until 1:30 so I should be working out on those mornings for one of my days a week

Hi everyone! I'm really excited to get this challenge going. I've been trying off and on to stick to something, but it's so easy to get side-tracked...

1. When did you start dieting/exercising?
I used to be a gymnast, so exercising was never a problem. After I quit, though, I gained at least 20 pounds. So in 2010, my mother and I started doing Weight Watchers. It really did work, and I lost almost 30 pounds (My mom lost 40!). But after we reached our goal weights, we just lost our way, so to speak. So now I want to do this for myself and get ALL the weight off I want to, and KEEP it off.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose?
I am currently fluctuating between 175 and 180lbs. I'd LOVE to get down to 150lbs. So I have about 30 pounds to go.

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. )

I am 20 years old and love it!

4. Is there a specific diet you are following?

I am using weight watchers again, because i know it works and it's easy to follow. But I'm open to just about anything.

5. Kids/Martial Status?

Not married, no kids.

6. Work schedule? (Days, evenings, not working.. etc)

I work Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. I'm also a student in a University and I'm taking 1 class on Tuesday/Thursday nights over the summer. Once Fall starts, I'll have 4 classes Monday-Thursday nights and still be working my full-time job! (Life is so hectic, isn't it?) But I can't complain, because I'll be finished at the University in December!

I live in sunny (not to mention, HOT) Florida!

Hi All! I'm very excited about this challenge! I've participated in several challenges before, but after signing up, I didn't really pay attention to them anymore. However, my latest challenge is almost over, and I've almost accomplished the goal for it, and that has inspired me to try another one and actually push myself to achieve it! I think the first mini-challenge of having a buddy to challenge with you is a great idea! Anyway, so here's a little about me:

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? I made a true commitment to lose this weight in January 2012, and have been sticking with it since then.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose? I have 52.6 lbs. left to lose

3. How old are you? I'm 27. I'll be 28 the end of Sept. so this challenge works well for my birthday!

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? I was originally doing slim fast. I'm still following the idea of slim fast, even though I'm no longer buying the products.

5. Kids/Martial Status? I've been married 7 years, and have 2 boys--ages 5 and 2

6. Work schedule? I work full-time Mon-Fri 8a-5p

7. What state do you live in? Eastern KY, so Eastern Time Zone

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to join this challenge with all of you. This is the first time I've ever done a challenge and I'm ready to start.

1. It seems like I have been dieting all my life and have never been able to get much off or keep it off. I put on weight with each of my pregnancies and kept it!

2. I would like to lose about 50 lbs. But I really just want to get some weight off and be healthy.

3. I will be 50 in about 6 weeks, so this challenge is at a good time. I hope to have some weight off and feel some success by my birthday. When I'm not eating right and not taking care of myself I can really get down. Being in control gives me such a great feeling and I need to get that back.

4. It seems like I've done about every diet, but I recently went back to weight watcher point tracking. I also try to follow Diet Free Life by Robert Ferguson -- If you haven't read his book you really need to!

5. I have been married for 31 years and have 4 children ages 30-11, one beautiful granddaughter and a new grandchild that will arrive next week! Smile We also celebrated 2 weddings this year - a son and a daughter! They were such fun!

6. I work at a school from August to July full time as a secretary.

7. I live in South Dakota (Central Time zone)

My name is LaDonna and I'm 43.

1. When did you start dieting/exercising? I guess I have been dieting for years. But I really got serious about it July 23 2011 when I was at my all time high of 193 lbs.

2. How much weight left do you have to lose? I have 35 pounds to lose.

3. How old are you? (If you don't feel comfortable give a range. ) I am 43 and this challenge falls right in with my next birthday. So to be at goal weight on my birthday will be the best present I could give myself.

4. Is there a specific diet you are following? Weight Watchers
