What's everyone doing?

I start Zumba next week. Would start this week, but my son has wrestling camp.

I have a home gym. Treadmill, elliptical and exercise bike along with some weights, resistance bands, one of those yoga balls. I have quite a few beachbody programs like insanity, p90x, chalean extreme. I also have a fitness hula hoop. The problem is getting my butt to use it. lol. We have a tv in the gym so when I get started, I am good to go because I just watch shows that I have on the DVR... just getting the motivation to start is the issue.

I can get to the point that I love to exercise and do it everyday once I get started. It almost becomes addicting. But right now I hate it... mostly because I let myself get out of shape and I get winded so quickly.

For anyone who has never used a weighted hula hoop, I really suggest getting one. They are amazing. It really helps to slim down the waist. You have to start slow, otherwise you will wake up the next day feeling like someone beat the crap out of your midsection. I wasn't sure about it at first because I could never hula hoop as a kid but I finally got it down. You can check out youtube videos if you have never heard/seen a weighted hula hoop. I got interested after seeing Marissa Tomei on Ellen doing it and her body is awesome and she's no spring chicken. lol.

I can't work out right now because of a knee injury - but when I can, I have an xbox kinect and a workout "game" called Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 and I'll usually do about an hour of warm ups, cardio and spot shaping and then another 20 - 30 minutes of yoga.
I also have Dance Central and that is a ton of fun that doesn't feel like a work out.

I hurt my ankle, so I'll just be doing weight training for a while. I'm going to do all my lifting on Fridays. That way I'll see how it interacts with my diet.

When I exercise, I use my Wii Fit Plus. I normally jog, bicycle, rhythm box (boxing), and hula hoop. I've seen some people say that using the Wii Fit isn't a "workout", but I have to beg to differ. My heart rate increases a lot and by the end of my 30 minute routine, I'm sweating, even though it's cold in the room. Plus, I live in a two-story house, so I'm climbing up and down 15 stairs numerous times a day. I figure my body is used to that by now, though, since I've been doing it for 24 years lol, but imagine what I would look like if I hadn't been! LOL

My parents were always anti-games and TV. Sooo with that being said I'm the strange kid on the block that does not own any of the gaming consoles. I really want to get an X-Box 360 OR a Wii Fit. I can't seem to make up my mind. In college, we used to use Dance Dance Revolution as a workout and believe me it was! For now, I have marks on our road every mile for 3 miles(other people use it to walk too). So I walk one mile out and one mile back when I actually get off my butt and go.

Christie, those weighted hula hoops look interesting. If I could get my belly under control I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

Christie, I must of had my head in the sand because I don't know much about the exercise hula hoop. I looked it up on Youtube and it takes me back Laughing! Love it! I must get one.

Toni, Angie and Angel, I like using the video consoles too. You don't even feel like you are exercising sometimes. It's not until you realize you've worked up a good sweat you remember you're exercising. I used to do Dance Dance Revolution which really increased your heart rate too. Wink

And Katherine, strength training is awesome. You get a good burn on there too.

I am looking forward to starting Zumba next week! I'll keep you guys posted.

Happy Exercising!

My method of exercise is on my Recumbent (stationary) bike...I purchased the bike off of Craigslist in October around 1 week into me starting the Atkins diet.
I am unable to do normal aerobic exercises, walking, dancing etc do to my back problem.. So this bike has been a blessing, now I can exercise to push along the journey...After all that rambling above.. So I say all this to say..

I am on this bike 7 days a week - I have only missed 3 days since the beginning of my exercise regimen 10/15/12..

That weighted hula hoop sounds like something I'd like to try. It think I'll purchase a regular hula hoop to start with (since I stink at it) and progress to the weighted hoop after that. This, I think, will be a good exercise for me since I have bad knees.

Hey sue. Just so you know I can't hula hoop with a regular hoop at all. The weighted one is the only one I can keep up so even if you can't use a regular one, you may have better luck with the weighted ones.

Good to know. I will ask Santa for the weighted hula hoop! Thanks Christie and good luck this week!
