Drank 2 glasses this am - Increasing my water intake is definitely helping ward off the dreaded constipation! I am also trying to eat more veggies and the fiber helps also!

Good for you!!.. When eating "Whole Wheat", make sure its 100%, or organic... if it says "enriched".. its pretty much Dead! and the fiber doesnt help as much as it should. Fruits like Apples and Oranges are soluble fiber.. holds 100 x's its weight in water.. which REALLY helps with Digestion. Try to eat at LEAST 1 apple or 1 orange a DAY! you can do it!

Thanks for the input Crystal! It's like having a personal coach! Yeah, I am definitely into eating for health, but I appreciate any tips like the one you just gave on soluble fiber. My son, 21, suffers occasionally with IBS and we are trying to change his diet too! One thing my doctor (into alternatives) suggested was taking aloe to heal the gut. It has really helped! Thanks for being there for us!!!

P.S. I drank 16 oz. first thing! Added green tea extract from PURE INVENTIONS. Have you heard of it? It is a concentrated extract that is the equivalent of drinking several cups of green tea. It has Lo Han in it for sweetening, but no caffeine, sugar, or preservatives.

No problem! I'm glad I could share tips that help! I haven't heard of the Green Tea extract, where did you get it? Sounds like something I may want to try. I was never a big Tea drinker, so it's kind of hard to drink it when I don't feel like I WANT it.. lol

I'm liking your doctor already! haha Alternatives, or natural healing really is the best. Or at least the best way to start. The book that is on the photo challenge picture, really is where I came up with this challenge. I've gotten to chapter 7, and really love it. I read last night all about IBS and constipation, there are MANY different specific foods and suggestions to try as well. The book is called "Healthy Digestion, the Natural Way". Now you don't have to and get it, but I think it will really really help with your son, and if he reads it himself it may make a HUGE difference!

Good luck with everything!

I purchased the extract online at PureInentions.com, but I have seen it at Health clubs in Atlanta. One dropper is like cramming all the antioxidants of several cups of green tea, and they have several flavors, so it just gives water a slight flavor. I recently read a health book that suggested that you include tea and spices (turmeric, cinnamon, etc) into every meal for their antioxidants.
P.s. will have to change the picture by my post - don't like seeing that pizza face! Just not sure how to do it yet.

This A.M. water habit is quickly becoming a great habit! I want to get that book! Question: does drinking all this water promote weight loss? I was just thinking it would be for better digestion and elimination. It is making me regular for the first time in my life! I am dropping weight too, but also very focused and determined to lose it!

Having a Healthy Digestive system will make you overall healthy! If you do get the book, Which I definitley recommend!! You don't even really have to diet! Its just changing your habits, creating a "new" way of eating to better your digestive system. And if you do better your system, you are bettering your overall health. EVERYTHING is linked to your poo.. lol... really!

Laughing Lady,

I'm so happy you are trying soo hard!! Looking at your food diary, it seems to me you are doing well! My recommendations would be to add in beans to your diet... without changing your whole eating habit (which looks really good!) Add a serving of beans and corn into your salads, also with 1/4 avocado cubed... it really makes it yummy! Will add some calories and also fiber! Another suggestion would be to add some OJ to your breakfast, or maybe a piece of High Fiber toast/bagel/or English muffin. I think you should target a diet of 1200-1300 calories per day. If you can keep in this rhythm, you will never have to change the way you eat! And you're starting SOO strong!

CONGRATS!
