I can tell you this works because it's how I started. I had lost 60 pounds which I kept off for two years. During that time I did the Couch to 5K and went on to run several 5Ks, 4 half-marathons, and one full marathon in Chicago. Sadly I fell off the wagon after the marathon and have since gained back 50 pounds. Today was my first day to get back on track so the timing of this challenge is PERFECT! I also coach a Girls on the Run team and our 5K Race is May 15 Smile

I'm shooting for a 5k in August. I walked one last week & got an itch to train and actually jog/run one.

My hubby and I have been "dieting" and yo-yo-ing with the extra weight since New Years. We decided to add more excercise and to keep motivated decided to do a 5K in June. We started running on our own, but were not building after exhausting ourselves at 1 mile. I have since found this great site and the Couch to 5K program. I am actually on week #3 workouts, but hope to enjoy some comraderie with all of you and remain motivated. I have found weeks #1 and #2 to be great workouts, challenging and still attainable. can't wait for better weather to run outdoors instead of treadmilling it.
