Usually update a bit earlier, but I was in a negative, funky mood this morning. It has gotten better as the day has progressed. Had a good lunch with my Mom, but totally blew my calories for the day. Need to get a workout in tonight to offset some! However, I didn't get on the scale, I didn't stop at Casey's, and I'm on my 2nd 32 ounce mug of water. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

My plan tonight is to cut up the head of lettuce I have at home so I can make a salad for lunch. Going to try to have a salad for lunch the rest of this week. Really want to try to get my calories closer to 1200 than 1500.

I managed to avoid the scale today!! Out at lunch for a run with my coworker. We did 2.2 mi in 25 minutes. Calorie count is going good today. And I'm on my 3rd 16 oz glass of water which is more than usual for me!! Plans for this evening are to go help out at my parents' farm. We have to load up the truck with hay tonight. The hay mow should be extra toasty tonight...I'll be sweating buckets!

I think it is so great that you run 2.2 miles in 25 minutes on your lunch hour!! Hubby and I walked at our local track field last summer and 1 lap is 1/4 mile. . .I could barely run one. A goal for this summer is to run a whole mile, all 4 laps. We haven't been able to get down there and start yet with all the rain, but I'm hoping we will be able to very soon! Sounds like you will get quite a workout in tonight. . .I think I need to find a farm to work on!

Aggie, I wish I could do the run on my lunch break, you're so good! I bet you burn lots of calories tonight!
Skirch, I'm wanting to keep my cals closer to 1200 too, but I'm having a hard time with that. I'll feel like I'm doing well and still end up with 1500 or a little over. I don't mind eating around 1500 when I'm working out more, but when I'm not I'm afraid I'm going to pack on the pounds.
Goals for 2014:
Complete Couch to 5K- DONE!!!
Sign up for and complete a 5K- DONE!! 35 mins.
Plan at least 3 outings with the family that involve being active- 2 done

Thanks guys for the compliments! My coworker and I started walking on our lunch (we get 1/2 hr) last year. The intention was just to get away from the desk for 15 minutes or so. Not long after we were walking about 1.5 mi in 24 minutes. Then last Sept. we started adding 60 second jogs to the walks which progressed to running for 5 minutes here and there to 10 min runs and then over the winter we increased the distance to 1.75 mi and just recently we increased the distance again to 2.2 mi. We now have 3 distances to pick from depending on the mood we are in. I owe alot to my coworker for doing this with me. She does Weight Watchers and has been maintaining for almost a year now. And I've lost over 25lbs and counting. Getting out at lunch also helps our day go faster. We won't get a chance to workout at night as the kids take up our time. THis way we get some time for us and a good workout too!

Mars same here. I think I'm ok, then I log everything and I'm closer to 1500. I'd feel better about it being 1500 if it was all fruits and vegetables, but it hasn't been. I really really need to incorporate more of that stuff into my diet. I don't know why I am having such a hard time doing it.

Ok yesterday or day 7 I think I figured out I need to play mind games with myself. I need some sort of sign that I'm losing something. Hopefully that whole calorie in vs calories out isn't complete poppycock. Yes.. I'm still attempting to not curse. From this point forward I'm tracking my total calorie deficit in my journal. At least then I can pretend Yes.. I lose .15 of a lb today. lol Will it work? Who knows! But I can track something without looking at the stinkin scale! Water.. I need to do better. Cursing? Im improving. Calories.. I'm doing amazing! That whole deficit tracking and being neurotic is a good trick! Working out? Well does breaking up horse poo clumps and filling garden boxes count? It should!

I have colored foil stars that I put on my calendar for days when I work out. I like seeing most of the days with stars on them!
