Weeks 1 to 9

Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day!

Guidelines:
have a glass before you eat or with a meal and drink plenty of water in between meals. This doesn't have to be exact, but it's important to hydrate in order to flush toxins, and impurities from the body which help our bodies work better to remove fat. Also, often we think we are hungry when we are just thirsty. Try drinking a glass of water and waiting 10 minutes before going for a snack next time you have a craving. Also, you should try and get your urine to be clear. If it's not DRINK MORE WATER!!!

Weeks 1 to 9

Move your ass

Guidelines:
Choose exercise that is fun and keeps you motivated if you are sweating you are losing weight. Yoga, walking, swimming, exercise videos that are unique like cardio hula dancing, etc is a fun way to keep exercising fun and new. Don't do the same things everyday, even if you love it because, eventually you will grow tired of it. You're work out will be more efficient if it's challenging, fun, and new to your body. So switch it up. :)

5 pounds gone? Get a treat!

Guidelines:
If you lose 5 pounds, reward yourself with a special treat. No, not a frappacino... go get a new book, or a back massage, try out accupuncture, back facial, bikini wax, foot massage, manicure, pedicure or if that's not your thing, a movie or a new household item, new car seat covers, day at the swimming center, new mp3 player or new album, whatever you want... and that way you can see your accomplishments in a materialized form.

Weeks 1 to 9

1, 2, 3. Go! Counting Calories...

Guidelines:
Make sure you are reading the backs of packaging or are utilizing a calorie counter for items that are not specified such as an apple, or green onions, etc. Here's how to lose weight by counting calories. Take your weight: Example 220 and multiply that number by 15 = 3300 calories per day to MAINTAIN the weight of 220. To lose a pound a week you must reduce the calories you intake by 500 each day. to lose 4 pounds a week you must reduce the number by (4x500)= 2000 calories... So if you weight 220, you'd need to have no more than 1300 calories a day for a loss of 4 lbs a week. Eating less than 800 calories a day is considered a fast so please when using the math do not eat less than 800 calories a day. (Please eat the amount it says each day, your weight in pounds multiplied by 15... unless you get below the 800 mark. You can increase your weight loss through exercise.

Weeks 1 to 9

4, 5, 6, Go! Activity Log!

Guidelines:
Something motivational, if you burn 500 calories a day, you will lose a pound a week of fat. But you can burn the calories in any increment. The math is 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat. Remember: Muscle weighs 3x as much as fat so when you get on that scale and you are not seemingly making as much headway in poundage, remember you DID lose a pound of FAT... pure FAT and you probably gained some muscle in the process. So keep your chin up and keep going forward. You cannot burn 500 calories, they can eat 500 calories. This does not work. Don't do it! For walking or running: the average 120 pound female will burn an estimated 80 calories for 1 mile of exercise. 5 calories more for each 5 pounds she weighs. Example 220 lb female will burn 130 calories.

"Food Journal written, did activity."

Weeks 1 to 9

Write everything down!

Guidelines:
In your activity log and calorie journal, it's important that you write down each ingredient in your meal and how many calories it is. Think of your calories alloted as a bank account, when you've run out of calories, no more shopping. I like to make sure at the end of the day I have a small remainder of calories in my bank. It's like padding the account that holds my most prized investments: ME. keep track of beverages and snacks too. Try and have at least 3 meals and two snacks and for cravings drink water and weight 10 minutes, if that doesn't work think about what it is you're craving for and why. Sometimes... it's just a passing fancy. Sometimes its a simple solution... a tiny chunk of dark dark chocolate or some string cheese. (but this indulgence can cost you 45-100 calories) so be careful and make sure you write it down.

Weeks 1 to 9

Timing is everything!

Guidelines:
If possible wake up with the sun, breakfast should be your largest meal. Breakfast like a king! Oh by the way... DONT SKIP BREAKFAST. When you fail to eat breakfast by the time lunch rolls around you may choose poor eating choices without much restrictions and your body will also be so ready to have calories that it will store them all. It's like a switch in your body gets flipped and instead of operating like a normal healthy body, it behaves as if its trying to fatten a starving person. Often people who skip meals will gain more weight than if they eat 3 meals at approximately the same time each day. Also, you should never eat a meal after 6pm or snack after 8pm. Try not to eat at all after the sun goes down. You might find out that you sleep better this way too! :)
