Lucybell33's Journal, 18 February 2008

A pound up over the weekend. I feel like I'm constantly making excuses, but I honesty don't think this can be a real gain, because I did manage to achieve a reasonable calorie deficit while we were away - largely as a result of the long hikes burning up lots and lots of calories, some of which I admit I did cash in!!

Anyway, this week's excuse is that I'm aching in muscles I didn't even know I had as a result of all that hiking, so I think it must just be fluid retention. I'm sure it'll be gone again in a matter of days - at least I hope so!!

Anyway, we a fantastic break, and I feel energised after all that fresh air, despite a current ability to walk without a slight limp!

Here I am on the way back down after tackling the twin peaks of Corn Du and Pen y Fan:

Have a great week everyone!! :D

Wow, amazing pic!! Sounds like you had fun time and it's maybe some water retention?? I wouldn't worry too much, re-weigh in a couple of "low" days and lots of water! :)

Thank you both! It was an amazing place for hiking, and it felt great having 50 less pounds to haul up and down that mountainside! It was hard work, but perfectly manageable - the only time I had to have a sit down was when my body finally decided it was time for a bit of refuelling!! :)

Aw wow, Leanne... that piccy is awesome! What a climb and I bet some fabulous views too. One things for sure, you will have definitely burnt some calories hiking up and down there... so that gain I'd say is most definitely muscle water retention and will be gone again within a couple of days! Showed hubby and he said that this was where he did his leadership training a few years ago with fully laden backpack! You didn't see any strange men running up and down here did you? Hubby said that SAS train here too and literally RUN up and down those mountains!!! Oh my... must be mad! It looks like you had an amazing weekend though... one place I have never been, but looks fantastic. :o)

Thanks Sue - the views were spectacular, although it was FREEZING up there!! We did see lots of crazy hill runners; one went up and down past us at least four times - it was getting quite embarrassing! We saw a few obvious army blokes on their training, although our hotelier said the SAS guys aren't allowed to be seen by the public, so the closest you get to them is if you see a bush move!!
