posterchild66's Journal, 23 April 2012

Woohoo! New low today for the journey - 226.8. And after all that bitching and complaining yesterday.

Yesterday I wrote my journal later in the day. Back at work this AM and on the early morning routine.

Yesterday for dinner I had a pita with veggies, chicken, and some nice feta cheese on it. We bought a few nice cheeses at the market. They have such a nice selection of cheeses here I am into trying new types. I picked up some Dutch cheese with herbs, and the feta. My wife loves Brie, but I am not a big fan.

Yesterday evening I watched the movie "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead". It is about some overweight fellows with a few more health problems than I had, doing the juicing thing. It was a very informative documentary. It was all about juice fasts, but had lots of nutritional and health information. I am now considering a juicer. I am thinking about doing the 10 day juicing fasts deals. The problem there, is my locale again. They juice lots of leafy veggies and celery, which is really expensive here. Celery is about 8 dollars a bunch here. Luckily I can get celery on base for about 5 bucks. Spinach is another story.

Anyway, I have to run and get cereal for my breaky.

Hey JP - congrats on the new low! Wife and I saw the video "Hungry for a change" and decided to buy a juicer, but I gotta admit it's still sitting comfortably in its box. I started on the "Fat, sick" video, but didn't find it very appealing. The whole juicer thing seems a little too strange for me. I like my food solid, thanks. :) Also, I have the same problem as you - finding enough veggies to actually process this way would cost me an arm and a leg. I was shocked to bay $3.50 for 4 jalapenos this weekend. That's FOUR peppers. Not four lbs. FOUR. Damn.

Yes, Jalapenos are 8.5BD a kilo here, that's about 21.00 a kilo. I bought an assortment so I could get some Habenero's. I wish I could get ghost peppers, since they are from India I would think I could find them here, but apparently they are too hot to be spicy. After researching this AM, I think I will decline the juicing too. It just is not practical at this stage of my journey. My wife and I like the idea of the detox though.

I tried Ghost peppers once...that's enough for me...frikkin HOTTT!! Talk about "Burnin Ring of Fire"...anyway, congrats on the new low...I'm headed in the wrong direction (not that it wasn't expected, still sucks) but I'm still 1.5lbs down on you...turning this ship around and headed for 215lbs!! Catch me if you can... Later.
