Maybe ease into it. :-) I made the mistake of jumping from relatively LC into attempting keto without researching it at all, or looking into what challenges come when starting suddenly. Seems it goes better with a gentler transition. It can take a bit for the gall bladder to adjust to that much fat. Look at Bluecoaster's journal entries; her detail and transparency is very helpful. Tbaygirl did all her research first, sort of opposite to the approach I took. Happy spinning!

Keto is great but I agree with T8U9. Look into it and avoid the mistakes most of us made. Not that it isn't working for me but you can avoid the keto Flu if you do things right. If you like reading then Dr Jason Fung also has a wealth of information on the subject. best of luck.

it's awesome! Been on it since end of May, lost almost 40lbs but more importantly I don't feel so fatigued, am no longer addicted to sugar and don't have to eat all day long. And yes do your homework, read, listen to podcasts ask questions and don't give up!

This is what I had for breakfast this morning from the 30 Day ketotgenic Diet Plan except I take a slice of turkey bacon and line the muffin cup with it then pour in the egg mix. Yum. INGREDIENTS 8 Large Eggs 1/2 Cup Half n’ Half 4 Oz. Bacon (pre-cooked and chopped) 1/2 Cup Cheddar Cheese 1 Tbsp. Butter 2 tsp. Dried Parsley 1/2 tsp. Pepper 1/4 tsp. Salt Note: You are welcome to add sauces or seasonings of your choice to this. If you’d like to add red pepper akes, a little bit of reduced sugar ketchup, or moyannaise - feel free! INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees 2. Mix eggs and half n’ half in a bowl until almost scrambled, leaving streaks of egg white 3. Fold in the bacon, cheese, and spices. Add any other additional ingre- dients now. 4. Grease a muffin tin with butter. This recipe makes about 8 frittata muffins. 5. Pour the mixture, filling each cup about 3/4 way. 6. Stick them in the oven for 15-18 minutes, or until puffy and golden on the edges. 7. Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. These freeze well and can be heated individually. Yields 8 servings, each having: 205 Calories, 16.1g Fats, 1.3g Net Carbs, and 13.6g Protein.

I know it will always be called "keto flu" but I really prefer to call it "carb withdrawal". I think it more accurately represents the cause--and puts the blame on the carbs, not the keto! : )

Good luck and we are rooting for you. I was hesitant on high fats since I was raised by the saturated fats will be really bad since my family has a history of high blood pressure. But I found I can balance the fat intake and have success. Go to the story and buy some MCT Oil. I use the NOW brand found in my local grocery store and on Amazon. With every meal I take one tablespoon... On keto you need to have fats in every meal. It is flavorless and each spoonful is 100 calories. I am now on intermediate fasting, down to one meal a day. So I take 3 tablespoons a day if I need it to make my macros work. 2 months keto, I am down 34 pounds, feel great, plenty of energy... Looking to lose a lot more but it is working for me.

For me, keto flu was mineral deficiency; I hadn't been eating any processed carbs, and only very small amounts of whole (quinoa, sweet potato). You need more on keto than with other WoE's.

Wow thanks everyone. Will definitely do some research. Starting to prep all the food tonight and i must say i am a little worried about the high fat as i am used to very little fats on diet. But your words of encouragement and advice are amazing. Thank you :-)
