Fledgist's Journal, 31 March 2012

At this point I'm really at what I might call a stretch goal. Just a pound and a quarter above where I want to rest, and I don't really care much about when I hit the mark (though it may be quite soon). I think I'm really where I need to stay for the indefinite future (give or take a pound or two). Hitting the target is more a matter of counting coup than anything else (and getting an exact weight down -- it will be exactly 100 kilos off).

The thing that I want to record is the conversation I had with my (now former) pulmonologist on Thursday. She phoned me to let me know that she'd looked at the results of my off-CPAP oxygenation study. I don't need a CPAP any more. My weight loss has cured my sleep apnea. It seems to have cured my high blood pressure too. I am very, very happy about this.

Fantastic news Fledgist. Just shows you what excess weight, can do to our body and health. Proper weight management, in the health professions, should be the first port of call, instead of shoving pills and potions at us. Trouble is, health professionals, haven't always got the training or knowledge to 'truly' carry this through.... Not like our FS buddies. :-)

Thanks all. It's been a huge struggle to get here, and it's going to take a lot of effort to stay here, but it's been completely worth it.

That is so awesome, Fledgist! I am hoping my hubby will be able to lose enough weight to get off his CPAP. He hates to use it so badly. I will tell him of your success!! Way to go!
