When I wasn't losing any weight I went on a modified fast. I usually follow low carb so I elected to buy Slimfast advanced nutrition (low carb) shakes and used them for all of my meals to get my system used to losing again and shrink my stomach. Once I started to lose, I went back to the low carb routine with 20 or so carbs a day.

I have found that logging (writing down) everything BEFORE I eat it disciplines me to watch the carbs.

I bought a 'bullet'; can put fruit or whatever in it & make your own fruit smoothie with no added sugar, etc. you control everything that goes in it & is quick

What From371to184 said, except that I draft the log then tweak it as I actually prepare the meal. Having the plan in place is easier than trying to invent it on the go.

i am finding it a little hard to understand carb replacements... does anyone have suggestions on a carb replacement for tacos and burritos.. we eat a lot of mexican food...

Re fruit carbs/ I limit my fruit carbs to either 1 cup of berries or 1 apple each day until I get to my desired weight ... I will then add other fruits. .

we also eat a lot of mexican food.. probably 4-5 dinners a week are mexican style. i replace the tortilla with lettuce or cabbage leaves or just do shredded cabbage with all the fillings on top.

Mommyhilaman, if you have Pinterest or you can even google low carb wraps and a lot of ideas/recipes will come up. I sometimes make cheese shells. Pan heat some cheese in a fry pan until it's dried out and crispy, while it's still warm drape over a wooden spoon suspended on two cans. When it cools it's in the shape of a crunchy taco shell. 🌮. Fill and eat.

Mommyhilaman, Yes re fruit carbs! I don't eat sweet fruits more than a few times a year. Fruit is not that healthful; its attractive to eat so that seed gets spread. Now I get a sugar rush just walking by a stand of nectarines.

Re carb replacement, Bluecoaster posts pictures lovely low-carb tortillas etc. Like blessed said, lettuce or greens. It's a bit sad at first, but now I can't imagine eating a taco shell or burger bun.

For a substitute taco salad, I use lean ground beef or ground turkey and after cooking add taco sauce or taco seasoning & tomato sauce. I put a cup of it in a bowl, add a little queso, lettuce and tomato and I will crush up a couple tortilla chips and I have my taco salad. I usually put in more lettuce and tomato...so it will be filling.

BH makes a "burrito" in a thin eggwhite-based omelette thing, filled with meat and cheese and riced cauliflower. -- Cabbage leaves get very pliable if you freeze them. I just put the whole head in. Can use raw like that, or I prefer to ferment a bit then stuff with pork and filler like spaghetti squash. --There are videos on YouTube of how to make romaine wrap well, but I'm too tired to learn new techniques at the moment.
