Happy Saturday!

It was a busy week for me. I turned another year older on Monday and went to my favorite restaurant. I am starting to really understand what I need to do to make virtually any restaurant menu something I can do - as long as I am educated about what really goes into it. The last time I went there, I had a salad with grilled chicken, but it is a Mexican restaurant, and I was completely unsatisfied. This time, I ordered chicken fajitas and asked them not to bring the tortillas. That choice completely satisfied my spicy craving and met my nutrition/calorie goals. Win!

I also cooked for our annual Relay for Life fundraising breakfast on Thursday morning (up at 3 AM!!). I contributed 196 link sausages and 6 dozen scrambled eggs to the cause and we made nearly $900 for the American Cancer Society. This is our fifth year of doing this at our workplace and it is always a success. Next on the fundraising docket will be my second annual "Bowling for a Cure" set for Cinco de Mayo. Spring is such a busy time of year for me!

I have been struggling with how to manage planting flowers at my new house. With the dogs and the restrictive HOA, it can be a challenge. I settled on barrels for my flowers in the back yard - it will keep the plants at a level the dogs can't trample and still satisfy my need for color. The front yard is more of a challenge. I will need to make small changes so that I don't have to submit an entire landscape plan to the HOA for approval. What a pain! I will start with expanding the area the tree to include some plants and see if that gets me in trouble. Otherwise, I will need to stick with hanging baskets and such and let the front yard remain a little bland.

So much to do today! I better get busy! Have a great week!
