Thanks for the information. I will ask my center when I go back this week. . . I hadn't heard anything about that. I am in Michigan though. I don't know if this is a franchise or not. 

WOW..alot of people will be very angry about this,I go to one (LAWL) in Tennessee and they have let some of their counselors go. I hope that doesnt mean they are closing too,I still have about 6 weeks to go,and have not met my weight loss goal.What is really sad is the people that have just joined recently and will not get a REFUND,for anything. 

I'm so sorry about this info guys, we already went through all this in Australia, all our centres have closed, I wonder if the same guy owned all the branches?? apparently he just didn't reinvest any of the money into the bills & running cost of the centres. 

I found out 12/13/07 that all pure weight loss centers will be closing by Jan 4. I wouldn't have even know if i didnt ask why they were cutting their hours. I think they are trying to keep it quiet for a while so they won't have highly upset clients at their doors before they close. I lost 45 lbs on the pogram and have 16 more to go. I havent even hit stablization or maintenance yet. It's very upsetting. I got a refund request form though where I can list the amount and the things I am asking for a refund for but since they filed for bankruptcy do I think I am ging to see that money? Maybe its a way to keep clients calm untill they actually close down. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CENTERS!!!!!!!!!  

It's so outrageous!!!! How can they do that?.... My counselor called me yesterday, she said that i should go to the center today and asked them for the remaining books for my plan. I think we should all do it. You guys know that after losing a certain amount of weight, they normally change your plan. So the thing is we can ask them to give us the other plans ahead. Like for me right now i'm on the purple plan at 214 lbs, as soon as i hit 190lbs i'm supposed to be on the gold plan, and i think if i want to go lower than 140lbs it'll be the green plan. Not only that, when we signed up the contract said once we hit our goal weight there'll be a 6 weeks stabillization or maintenance ( i dont really remember) anyway she told me they supposed to give me 6 cards for those 6 weeks. The cards are meal plans for those weeks. And she also mentionned that there's a book that will help me to keep off the weight. I'll go to my center today right after work so they could give them to me. You guys don't wait , just go and see if you can have yours. I wonder if there will be any left for me. p.s: ANGRY at my center , they told me there'll be no refund at all. What is this form you're talking about?  

Some food for thought... I am a former employee of la weight loss. The owner of this company was Vahan Karabajakian. Right after 9/11 he changed his to Van Karian and we were instructed to destroy all documents with his former name. The bloodwork you paid for was sent to a lab owned by a Mark Karabajakian, his brother. These gentlemen made many large donations to charities in the middle east. Where do you think your money went??? 

PS-- These donations totalled over 4 million dollars, not a small piece of change for a so called bankrupt company. I did report this to homeland security and ABC News. 

I am a member of the LAWL center in ottawa ontario, do you know if this affects us up here? I haven't heard anything regarding this and my boyfriend just spent like $400 for my next year!!!! I hope that this is a states only thing (Sorry)....and blood work???? I never had to do blood work....can you explain this
