All at once the clouds have parted, light streams down in bright unbroken beams! 246.6 after a few days of "I dont know what".

Listening to Rush now after getting my ipod classic loaded with all my music, and hooking it up to my yamaha receiver. It lacks some features I would like (Shuffle), but otherwise does what I wanted. All my music in the living room without worrying about streaming, networks, etc.

Yesterday went nicely after all. Thursday I asked a coworker to buy me a beef brisket, and then subsequently asked him to smoke it too in his smoker. So yesterday I had to go out to his house to pick it up. I love smoked meat. Not real interested in the health benefits or issues with smoked meats either, just the taste! It came out yummy, and was huge!! We packed half away in the freezer for later, and have quite a supply of yummy and unhealthy beef in the fridge too. It was a bit fatty in the large side, but I trimmed it down. It had a delicious spice rub on it which made a tasty crust. My wifey gets a little crazy with that crust, and I had to leave the room instead of watch her over-eat it. lol

The country I am in, Bahrain, is sliding back into violence again. Last year for a few moments before larger countries revolted we were in the news. The sectarian violence has never stopped, nor did it start last year when "Arab Spring" because en vogue worldwide. There is and always has been violence and riots here between the sunni and shia. Now its just "cool" to do it. I often feel these kids here dont have anything to "get into". In American kids may "Get into" sports, or drugs, or metallica, or whatever. Here, they don't have all that. So they need somewhere to feel belong. Sadly that is usually in militia's, terrorist groups, or sectarian violence. The authorities idea of control of said issues is to "contain" it to their villages. They are finding out thats not the correct way to do it. Because when they do it too long, or leave the villages and do it, now its a problem. Thats precisely what happened to our famous "Pearl Square" (Atcually it was pearl roundabout until CNN dicks got ahold of it). They let them gather and get crazy 2-3 months, then once day, it was not OK, and people died.

Long story short, 3 people died yesterday and the whole island had riots all over, burning tires, tear gas, etc. All of the sudden I am "Bad Dad" for not letting my 17 YO Daughter go run the streets at night with her friends. Yes, earlier in the week I said yes, but things change. Lol, it was a long way to go for an amusing antidote, but that is my life here.

While I was visiting my friend picking up meat, I talked to his wife and talked about life and things in general. I like to go to their house as they have 3 babies under 5. So I get to snuggle and act like a grandpa or uncle. I miss when my kids were younger (and less mouthy). She does something very nice with the kids, and that is each day they have to share the high point, and low point of their day. We usually ask "How was your day?", but I think the high point/low point is a good idea. Makes you think and be grateful.

It was my 1st drive yesterday in my car in a few weeks, for that I am grateful!

I am grateful today for my kids, my wife, and my kitty!
I am grateful for smoked meats, and the friends to buy and smoke them for me! They had to go into "forbidden villages" to get said meats!
I am grateful today the wind is not bringing the tear gas to my house!
I am grateful today for hope, lets hope for winny and her grave illness.
I am grateful for fatsecret and my buddies and support system. This journal thing is really helpful.

Have a great day!

/Cheers, JP
