madaboutmoose's Journal, 30 December 2009

Well good morning again!! Sometimes I can be a little obsessive ... not that any of you have noticed ... LOL!! I have been worrying about my holiday goal ... which was to weigh no more than 185 on January 1st. The worry has been that I will not have a scale on January 1st because we are going out and staying at a hotel!! Of course I will eat out on New Year's and drink and probably go out to breakfast on the 1st so I didn't want to count my January 2nd weigh in as being the measure of whether or not I was successful in reaching my goal. It suddenly occured to me this morning that I could use the 31st at my date. LOL!!! What a silly girl I can be. So now I am very excited because I weighed in today at 180.6!!!! I'm pretty sure I'll be 185 or less tomorrow ... unless I eat my way through every fast food joint in town today ... which I am NOT going to do!! Yea ME!!!

One day perhaps I will become more accustomed to the "ups" and "downs" in my numbers. My brain KNOWS that it is normal for me and yet I still allow myself to be impacted when it goes up. UGH. I imagine that even "normal" people have fluctuations in their weight but they probably don't obsess over it like I do.

So today I am feeling pretty darn good!!! I have a pair of size 10 pants on this morning. Okay they are a knit jean so they do stretch but still ... size 10? Never did I imagine when I started this leg of my journey almost a year ago that I would be able to wear ANY size 10's!!! Of course I still have 12's, 14's and even one pair of size 16 that I can wear but that too I believe is normal, to have a range of sizes that fit ... it depends on the cut of the clothing, the fabric, the manufacturer as to how things fit.

Of course I will be facing the "after holiday" consequences again this weekend and I hope I will do a better job of avoiding the funk ... but I may still feel funky next week for a day or two. I am not certain I would be celebrating so much success if I had not found this place and had not had my buddies encouraging me along. Thank you all ... and the journey continues.

I hit every store in our small town yesterday searching for pants for my husband. He has gained weight and the poor guy only had one pair of jeans that he could wear, which hurt his belly by the end of the day. I have so been there and felt for him. He isn't much of a shopper so I went a little crazy, brought everything home and we "shopped" in our bedroom last night. Fortunately some of them worked for him. I'll be returning the rejects today or tomorrow. I'm sure he'll lose some weight soon ... he usually does so without much effort and I imagine the radiation might impact his appetite. He never has had to really watch what he eats but does go up and down through the years.

My five for today ...

1. feeling fit and trimmer than I've ever felt before in life
2. being able to find some pants that my husband liked and fit him
3. lotion with sparkles in it my son bought me for Christmas
4. perspective
5. another experience of gaining over a celebration, tightening the strings, and bringing my weight back down!!

I hope you each have a decent day today ... I am freinvious (as Amy would say) of those of you who have time off from work this week!! Thanks once again for being here for me ... and I look forward to seeing what you each are up to today as time permits!!

Lotion with sparkles? Sounds delightful! I am so happy for you to make your holiday goal and be in the size 10 jeans too. I am edging towards 10s in some things and like you, it is amazing to think I could wear a 10! Or maybe even an 8 someday. :) About the funk, it's only one night. You won't do much damage even if you really enjoy yourself. Have a great time with your husband and don't stress about January 2nd. You are doing great and starting off 2010 with a bang!

(-: Thanks Erika!!! I'm will indeed to have a good time and not stress. I'll be dancing after all!!! I just have to chuckle at myself sometimes ... I can be rather goofy!!

Hi! you're doing fantastic with your weight. the litle gain after christmas is already gone, which means you are comfortably set at 180. No funk allowed lol! did you have time to think about your goal for the challenge? have a grat day!

Jessy ... thanks!! I'm still thinking about the goal for the challenge. I think it may be something as simple as being "on track" for 7 days in a row!! I'm sure I'll think of something!! Of course I will not be "on track" on New Year's Day ... I already know I'll be eating out that day, at least for breakfast ... hmmm ... obsess, obsess, obsess ... LOL!!

the challenge doesn't start before january 4th, right? so you can have fun until then! I know what you're talkimg about with obsession lol!

Being "on track" sounds like a great goal to me. You certainly know what it means for you to be on track. And like Jessy said, you have until next Monday to decide!

Oh darn ... I guess I didn't read the fine print ... January 4th? Really? Well then I am in very good shape then!! I did post an objective ... take a read on the challenge page and let me know what you think!! I'm thrilled the challenge doesn't start till the 4th ... Beets is a smart, smart girl!!! LOL!!!

LOL! I think almost all of us here are more than a little obsessed with our weight. It becomes even more evident when some of us afraid to be without our scales for even a single day. The last trip I took, I took mine along with me (not the first time). However, since we know how much we can trust ourselves when our back is turned, we know only too well that it pays to be ever vigilant. ;-)

Some day, maybe there will be a little chip we can implant that connects to our watch or something that will give us a minute by minute readout of our weight! Now that would be true obsession! :) Congrats on making your year-end goal and wearing your size 10's! You are superwoman! Sometime in 2010 I'll be congratulating you on your size 8's! Glad you had some luck finding jeans for your hubby. Lee buys his without trying them on, then takes back what doesn't fit. I call it his 'catch and release' shopping. Which challenge are you in? I haven't done one in awhile. Not sure I'm ready for it, but I'll take a look.

Amy ... Seven Days: Whatever It Takes! Beets came up with this ... I figured since it is only 7 days I might be able to pull it off!! LOL!!! What will it take to get off your plateau, build confidence, kick start the new year? Decide and do it for seven days. starts in: 5 days duration: 7 days

Oh yea ... and I love the idea about the chip that can monitor our weight minute by minute!! NOT!!! I love the 'catch and release' shopping. Bob hates to try clothes on when we shop ... so I did the catching and releasing for him!!!

I do that sometimes with the shopping if I am too lazy to go to the store. I will order from the catalog each thing in a couple different sizes and keep what fits. Sounds like you are doing great. I like that chip idea too! lol

Let's hear it for those Size Ten pants! Woo hoo! I wear a Size 10 and I am half your height! You must look tremendous. Another three cheers for sparkly lotion. I love that kind of lotion. I LOOK for it but can not find it! What kind did you get? Enjoy your New Year's Eve plans. Sounds as if a good time is in store for you all. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Poet ... son bought my lotion at the Body Shoppe or something like that!! I don't know how "tremendous" I look ... but I sure am feeling good!!!

The cook book you bought, pg 237, thats what I am working on right now! And that is what will make me 'fluct up' lol and Menudo! Oh I can't wait for the party!!! I chuckled at your 'normal people' comment, must not mean us fs'ers. I say you buy more size 10s since they make you feel so good. It can be your new goal to make 'em lose, and ditch those 16s! I finally did that and its better to keep track with. Very nice of you to help your hub that way, sales will be fantastic tomorrow.

I really don't want to ditch the one pair of 16's I have. They are such nice pants ... black, INC brand, very slim legs ... I think that is why I can still wear them .... with a belt of course!!! I don't wear them often as they are rather dressy. I'll have to look up page 237!! It is so strange to feel slim ... I could get used to this!!!
