That's a toughy, Bill. I do generally adhere to the CICO concept. I don't know that I ate 7000 calories over in that time period, and even calipers are a bit spotty for exact weight due to the way we handle the caliper from day to day. They are my preference. I read once that carbs have an almost 'allergic reaction' component for a lot of people. I think looking at weight becomes a problem at some point because of the water attachment to both carbs and salt, so I think 'weight' as a marker gets to the point of almost being useless. That being said, I have known far too many people who have been way below what they believe to be maintenance calories not losing weight to think it's not truly an issue. Thyroid and the endocrine system take a hit on a long term low calorie, low carb diet. I think I've said this before, but my approach would be to add calories slowly. Say 100 calories per day per week to get your system so it will absorb more calories without weight gain. If you're already getting enough protein and fat, let it be carbs. You can still do this with 16:8 if you like. When you see your weight starting to increase, stop at that calorie level, or drop back 100 calories to see if the weight gain ends. If it does, you've reset your metabolic rate. I think we can get so focused on weight loss that we can lose perspective and just do more of the same, even if we know it's not working.

Inquiring minds would like to know this too. It will take time for your mom depending on severity. Mama did not have outward signs of suffering a stroke but mentally and emotionally definitely. I am praying for your family. I know it is rough to say the least.

Sorry, you're adding weight while at a 1000 calorie deficit? You may simply be an enigma.

It sounds like a plan, Bill. The other thing I forgot to consider was that just prior to the trip south I had just completed a carb load, so that combined with the eating out could have given me some weight. :) Thanks, Warren.
