I'm wondering if I'm losing muscle mass, because I'm not exercising???

Lost so far: 26.5 lb.
Still to go: 22.0 lb.
Diet followed reasonably well.

well it depends not only on your exercise, but also on your nutrition. if you eat a lot (or at least enough) protein, you may not be losing muscles (at least i've heard so from my doctor).

Do you still go swimming? Plus, I seem to remember you saying, you sit on a fit ball at your dressng table and walk up stairs quite a bit at work - all exercise. You have WW body analyser scales right? I would think they give muscle mass... If you still have your previous readings, check it out. Anyone who looses weight, will loose a bit of muscle, unless they are REALLY going for the weights. I exercise to "maintain" as much muscle as possible. When we are heavier our bodies need more muscle to move our bodies around (because it takes more strength to move that weight) As we get lighter, our bodies don't need so much muscle to move - and it uses the surplus for energy. That's why it is good to lift some "heavy" weights a couple of times a week, to remind it, that it still needs that muscle sometimes. Depends on what you want Triaby - exercising does change your body shape and makes you "look" slimmer.

Hey Sk1nny - I haven't been swimming since I first got flu. I am just sort of feeling back to normal now, so may try and get a few swims in before Christmas, but (I know really shallow reason...) I will have to re-colour my hair before Christmas again if I go back swimming and with the bathroom facilities the way there are this is no easy task - so now may wait until the new year. It is weird that my weight is dropping, but I am definitely not getting thinner - the vintage dress I just fitted into a few weeks back, is a much snugger fit (I can even see the outline of my belly button!!), so will not be wearing that! I have go so much work to do before the Christmas closure, I am not going to worry about exercise right now, but will definitely get back into it after my break - I want my firmer tummy back!!!
