Cool with it. Some good news yesterday that I'm not quite ready to share. Hopeful. Could be incredible.

I decided I wanted to try a new lift yesterday. It's a keeper. Power clean and press too the place of Military press. It kicked my butt. I love it!

Yeah. I proved it for sure. I've done deadlifts, and I've done overhead military presses. This is far different than a simple combination of the two. I knew something was missing in my back/pos chain exercises. I think this was it. :)

Did you self teach the power cleans?
07 May 16 by member: jimmiepop
Yes. There was a group of clips on youtube that walk you through each stage. Fairly simple. The fact that I've got deads sorted out makes it straight forward.

@NM Can you shoot me the link you used? I self taught the Big 4, but for some reason got it in my head that the Oly lifts were too complex to self teach.

I think, once basic movements are learned, the more complex moves become almost intuitive. I think of the power clean as deadlift instantly followed by an upright row to get yourself under the bar, followed by a regular mil press. I'll get the links for you.

Thanks. I am going to try it. The oly lifts just look badass; like strength ballet or something..

The one that impresses me is the power snatch. I'll put some links in the group area so people can check them out. Also have a book suggestion for you.

By the way, most gym rats look at you like you're some kind of superman if you'd actually doing deadlifts. I'd love to see the looks if you did a power snatch. Even the power clean and press would have most awestruck, just because they'd never seen it before.

True, but we've got a pretty good crew, both power types and oly. not competitors, but pretty serious.

Ha Ha! Steven ... I just got that ... practice safe sets.
