Annabelle3117's Journal, 08 April 2016

I wasn't going to record it, but what the hay. I'm trying to get back to my Monday weigh-ins. I'll weigh in again this Sunday before birthday dinner at moms, then I'll hold off until the following Monday. Might see those 180's Sunday, I'm close!

So despite the previous weekend's set-back I still managed a loss, woohoo! I've been to the gym the last three days and I've got my eating habits back on track. My carb cravings dropped substantially after my first low carb day. I've been hitting that elliptical HARD too, four miles in forty minutes isn't easy and I nailed it 2 out of the 3 workouts.

Tomorrow is SATURDAY, thank the sweet baby jesus. Having worked all last weekend this feels like the longest week ever. No, I will not be partaking in any adult birthday beverages lol. I'm good for a while. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow but I told my husband all I wanted was a fun day with him and the kiddos. Mom offered to keep the kids but I really love the family time. If we travel we will probably end up eating out, but it's my day so I'll get to choose. Might have to choose subway lol. Gotta keep those 80's in sight.

My little lady, god I'm so proud of her. Her weight climbed a few pounds from her last dr. visit to now. (She is my height, about 5'4 and 160lbs) She has a delayed insulin response and could potentially end up with diabetes. The amount of insulin she needs to put away the sugar is significantly higher than the average persons, which takes a toll on the pancreas. So she has been making some positive changes, giving up the breakfast cereals, choosing calorie free drinks, and attending free basketball practices after school for exercise. I'm trying to keep encouraging this positive behavior without making her feel crappy about herself. It's a fine line.

I was a kid with a weight problem (far more significant than hers) and I remember my mom buying me dexatrim max weight loss supplements before I had even hit puberty. I starved myself for weeks and was rewarded with compliments about how I was 'looking slimmer'. It wasn't a healthy situation for me. My mom didn't know any better, but I do and I'm trying to help my daughter to love herself rather than hate herself, and to focus on her blood sugar/insulin levels rather than her weight. I do not want her to end up with long term complications from this.

Which kind of makes me think about that show "My 600lb life". There is always an enabler getting these people the food. Well my daughter is almost twelve, she's not going out shopping and bringing home sugary crap. I've made a lot of changes, but I can see areas where I could improve.

Alright, I guess that wraps up this train of thought. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!

Have a fantastic weekend and I don't think you have much to worry about if your daughter is already making healthy changes to her diet. I agree it's a fine line between support and censure but it seems like you're walking it as well as Blondin ever could! take care :)
