Wow. This weekend has been horrible for weight loss.
It's been a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, but I haven't been able to do my thing when it comes to losing weight, and plans have been changed on me so many times - which I really hate as it messes up my food schedule.
Anyways...
FRIDAY: I went to the doctor, because I keep getting these little dizzy fits. Turns out my blood pressure is low, and I am no for a two week probationary period 100% blood pressure medicine free! Also, no rehearing with the band Friday night. Instead, we had a new friend over for dinner and first meetings, and it was an awesome night. We had plenty of good food, and I managed to stay within my calories.
SATURDAY: This is where it all collapsed on me, food wise. I was introducing my Rock Band class to 7th graders to inspire them to sign up, and it was a huge success! It was so much fun. Saturday was spike day, and I had to get a lot of food eaten through the day. I started with a pretty good heavy breakfast, and thought I'd do fine, but then we went to the school, and didn't get to eat lunch until 3 pm. Lunch was unusually light, and nowhere near the calories I needed. I figured, I would just go for pizza in the evening instead, load up on a ridiculously high calorie pizza, and I'd be home free. However, Wife tells me that she and I was invited to go try out a new local Sushi bar. I love sushi, but it was just not welcome this night of all nights. Sushi is relatively LOW on calories, and I needed HIGH. She really wanted to go, so I gave in and decided to just do spike day Sunday. I came out of Saturday without reaching over my 6-day-a-week allowance of 1700 calories.
SUNDAY: New attempt to get through a spike day, but since we're alway home on Sundays and not really going out, the options to eat high calorie food is kinda limited. I did make it (almost) to the end, and managed it.
And now for the scary part - the weigh-in. Last night I weighed in at 96.4 kgs! I had actually managed to gain 5 frickin' kgs in two day! Of course this is not fat. If it was fat gain, I would have eaten 35,000 more calories than I burned, so a total of 41,000 calories. Of course I didn't. My guess is that it's mainly salt (the sushi bar) and just a result of throwing my body for a loop with my strange food choices.
I am in no way concerned with the gain - I know they'll come off during the next week or so, but this has taught me that it's very important to me to keep my meals scheduled and STICK TO THE PLAN. No moving spike day for me anytime soon. :)
I did have a good weekend, though, and I enjoyed it with my beautiful wife. We had some good experiences, made new friends, tried new foods, and I got new students for my class. It just doesn't get any better!

:-) I am sure you are right, that the gain is because of the salt..... Kinda scary but interesting though... Amazing what it does to weight loss - or lack of it - or weight gain :-). I love sushi too, slurp.... Sounds delicious, glad you had a good weekend :-)

Sk1nny, it IS amazing. I can easily see why people are scared of the salt. I usually don't really care, but I do consider it when it "does me wrong"... I don't mind retaining water, it's not the water I'm hoping to lose. But of course it annoys me when it gets in the way of my weight decline. :)
