Annabelle3117's Journal, 04 September 2015

Good morning buddies. I am not pleased with what the scale had to say about all of my hard work. I weighed in three times, 187.6 - 187.8 - 188. I just stuck with 188. A total week deficit of -9,195 cal and no change in the numbers, Bah! I was really hoping that getting back to the gym would boost my loss.

Immediately my first thought was the question in DK's post yesterday, is it really worth the effort to lose that one pound. 74,799 steps for the week, over 5 hours spent exercising in the fat burn zone or higher, counting every calorie that passes thy lips, declining calorie dense entrees and alcoholic drinks. An awful lot of trouble, isn't it? Oh yeah, it definitely is. But it's sooo worth it.

I decided to start crunching some numbers just to reassure myself that things are going the way they are supposed to. I have been weighing in for eight consecutive weeks and in that time I have lost a total of 12.8lbs. That's an average of 1.6lbs per week. It's not the two pounds a week that I wanted but it's damn close. The bitch of it is that just because you're averaging 1.6 a week doesn't mean you're going to be down 1.6 every week. More often than not my losses come in spurts, a few pounds here, nothing, nothing, a few more pounds. It's frustrating but important to know and remember that it's a part of the process.

Is it hard to stay on track when first thing in the morning the scale mocks your effort? Yeah, sometimes. That's why I have this handy journal to rationalize with myself and get support from some good friends.

It has been good getting back to the gym. I am amazed by my stamina and it's always a good reminder of where I came from and the difference between fit and thin. I would like to be both, please. I believe gym time will definitely boost my losses, just have to give it some time.

So here we are, at the brink of labor day weekend. I don't know how I'm going to get through this one unscathed. We have a festival in town, my mom found a sitter for my sister so we could hang out Saturday night, cookouts, oh my. I guess I better plan some gym time... I'm going to need it!

Have a great Friday buddies!

The scale always frustrating. I can only handle using it once a week, or it makes me crazy! But 1.6 lbs a week is a great rate for losing weight and keeping it off.

You know it's water weight/muscle. When frustrated with lack of loss, go back to your initial entry when you began FS. Then wrap your arms around yourself and say, "damn girl, you're awesome". Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy a much needed break.

I think all of wish we had a linear weight loss journey. It just doesn't happen that way very often. Pat yourself on the back and keep going...

My weight is the same way. It can get frustrating but you've come a long way. Keep on climbing!

You are doing amazing! And next week you could have a big loss. Even without the big losses you're body is getting the benefits of eating better and exercise, so your health is improving. It's smart to look at the whole picture and remember that it is worth it to be healthy. Have fun this weekend!!

Good attitude you've got going for you. Also we tend to think short term and that can lead to feeling disappointed when we don't see short term results. But long term is a much better measure. I tend to lose in spurts also. Keep it up and the scale will move in time. Have a great holiday weekend.

Going to the gym makes the scale a liar relatively speaking. You're going to be switching back and fourth between burning fat and gaining muscle depending on your diet and what you're doing at the gym. You cant do both at the same time but you can do one or the other from day to day or week to week. So you may not be losing weight, but good things are still happening! Just got to have faith in the process like you already said.

HIIT workouts are worth a try perhaps?

Your not alone, just stay the course. The last three months I have been busting my ass in the gym, and the scale hasn't even been moving as fast as it was when I was doing no additional exercise. but for the cool part, I am seeing more changes in my body shape over the last couple months than I did the first 7 months. So yeah, I can't explain it, but it is annoying
