madaboutmoose's Journal, 21 August 2011

Up early this Sunday morning. I woke up on and off all night and finally gave up this morning around 5am I think. Guess it was too much to hope that I would have two good nights sleep in a row.

However, arising early has given me the time to prepare dinner for tonight (we have a very large zucchini that I cut in half and stuffed with turkey sausage, ground beef, onions, celery, yellow bell pepper, cottage cheese, shredded cheese, garlic, and other spices). It is all ready to go into the oven later today. YAY me!!!

I also have already exercised!! Double YAY me!!!

We are planning on catching the early show today ... going to see Conan the Barbarian. I hope it is entertaining. I'm sure my hubby will enjoy it. Then a little shopping, grocery type shopping not clothes shopping. Then back home to cook dinner and whatever.

Ah ... I hear the man has arisen!!! Must prepare him coffee and greet him ... be right back!!

Okay ...we've both had coffee and have been properly greeted and I'm back ... not that you even would have realized I was gone. Silly Moose.

Yesterday was a blur. What should have been a quick project pretty much took me all day. My wireless printer wasn't working. Well it would print but not wireless. It took me FOREVER to fix it but I finally got it done. I also rearrange our "office" moving a roll top desk that used to be in my office when I was in private practice a gazillion years ago. It has basically been a "catch all" for the past 12 years. I cleaned it out and now I can sit upstairs with my hubby and be on the computer at the same time with him. I think it is a good thing. He has a tendency to holler at me from upstairs quite a bit to come look at something so this way I won't be romping up and down the stairs as much. Wait, that means less exercise!! But the other good thing is the kitchen is downstairs so perhaps I will do less snacking too!!

I've been looking for smoothie recipes. I'm going to start making smoothies in the morning so I can put the flax oil straight into the smoothie. Bob even said, on occasion, a smoothie could be his whole breakfast but he also likes a hot meal so I'm not sure it will save me much work!! It is a great way to get him to eat more fruit. He doesn't really eat fruit much. It's not that he doesn't like it ... he just seems to choose things like popcorn, ice-cream, chips ... well you get the picture. I've found some recipes online that I can use. Seems to me it is really just an experiment ... figure out what you like and mix it all up and see how it tastes. I want mine to be as healthy as possible ... and I can see mine replacing breakfast ... as long as I get adequate protein. I find if I don't eat protein in the AM I get hungry much too quickly.

Grateful today ...

1. that it is Sunday and not Monday like I thought it was when I woke up in the middle of the night thinking I had to go to work!!

2. for getting so much done so early in the morning ... that means I will get more done today, right?

3. exercising self control by NOT throwing the printer through the window yesterday as I tried to figure out what the "communication" problem was and how to fix it!!!

4. for another day of bright blue skies

5. for friends who remind me that sometimes, it really is better just to leave things alone.

In addition to working on being kind to myself I am also working on catching my negative thoughts and re-framing them into something less negative. These past months I have noticed that I am crankier than usual, more negative than usual, more frustrated, and so forth. I'm fairly certain that sleep disruption and stress play a big part in that yet I am still aware I need to change those thoughts. They do me no good. None at all. Fortunately I have this place here where I can spew whatever is on my mind ... and receive great support that helps me do just that. I must believe that the weight will come off again and stop these thoughts that tell me I am "stuck" and won't ever get back down to 180. It truly is a journey, a process, isn't it? I hope you all have a lovely Sunday ... full of kindness towards yourself ... and opportunities to figure out what it is you want to do with yourself.

Take care buddies!!

good morning. My smoothie recipe I usually do 5 days a week. 2 tbs brown rice protein, 1 unmeasured cup of either unsweetened, soy, brown rice, almond or coconut milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 tbs flax meal, 1/2 banana, and a handful of frozen berried, sometimes froz mango chunks. It usually keeps me pretty full til lunch. Have a great time at the movies!! You sound good- even without the sleep- you sound very committed to good things : )

You had me with the zucchini till you got to the cottage cheese part - Really? Cottage cheese?? Don't get my wrong, I love me some cottage cheese, but I would never think to put it in there with the rest of that. So how did it turn out? My dinner tonight consisted of 4 Cosmos and a Malibu Bay Breeze.... I've felt better! And your smoothie idea is a good one. I make mine with a cup of plain Greek yogert, some frozen strawberries and/or blueberries, and a splash of milk. Because I use the plain yogert, I sometimes put in a packet of splenda, but with the fruit, you don't really need it.
