I've decided to pick a simple diet and one that worked before for me. The last time I did atkins I lost 50 pounds. In the years since then, I've gained it all back. However, now I'm in a better place in my life, and I'm surrounded by better people. I also work out a lot more than I did before and I enjoy working out a lot more. My brother is on a similar diet and works out all the time so I will have someone else to push me and make progress with me. The diet says to eat any kind of meat, but stick to lean meats, which I will. Chicken will be #1 and then some turkey, and some catfish & shrimp. I have some tuna, turkey bacon, and some hot dogs. Salmon, ham, and red meat will be infrequent but still part of it. I have cheese sticks and sharp cheese portions to snack on, as well as omega 3 eggs to eat with the turkey bacon. I am allowed some salad and I will be eating that a few times a week. I can't have croutons but I can have salad dressing, which I make with olive oil and red wine vinegar. I am allowed butter, but I don't keep butter in the house or cook with butter so I won't be including that in my diet. When I cook I will use the olive oil PAM cooking spray I have. I've decided to do the induction phase for the entire month of October instead of just two weeks. Last time I did the diet I lost 12 pounds in the two week induction (and I cheated with bagels for breakfast sometimes), so I know that it can make a difference. I just have to keep telling myself that it's "only a month." I will not be taking any supplements or protein powders this month for my workouts. I figure the massive amount of protein from the lean meats will be enough. As for the other supplements, I'll have to do without them for a month. I'll not be eating any fruits this month, which sucks, but I'm sure I will allow myself a banana after a hard workout for muscle recovery. I am allowed SOME vegetables so in addition to the salad, I have wegmans frozen cauliflower & cheese and broccoli & cheese. I'm trying, however, to stay away from eating lots of cheese or eating high fat/high sodium meats. The hot dogs and occasional ham in the chicken cordon blues are about as bad as I'll get. The caffeine has been the hardest thing to stop, as I still occasionally drink coffee and soda and I suffered some awful migraines the first few days of October. The weekend was fine though and I think the process is complete. Just no more caffeine and I should be okay. It also sucks about not eating sugary things, I'll have to check out the atkins menus in the book and see if theres anything to supplement that I can maybe make with splenda. I'm allowed cream so maybe I can make some sweetened whipped cream and that will have to fill my craving. No yogurt even allowed, but I had a bunch at the house so I'll have to finish that. It has protein in it, but its dairy and sugar as well so not allowed that for too long. This month is going to be a busy month for me. I will hopefully be working a lot with my side jobs, and I have a lot of parties to go to as well. I'll have to remember to be good and not cheat food wise and also no alcohol. Its only a month :-P.
