KThompson12's Journal, 20 August 2014

Four days of Atkins, 4 pounds lost.
As always, I'm not blind, I know it's water.
But I do feel it in my clothes, and I'm not starving every hour which is a pleasant side effect of not eating carbs.
However, my head is very foggy and that's annoying. My breath is bad. My heart jumps sometimes. I'm smoking more cigarettes out of boredom from not eating. And already I'm worried about what happens the first time I slip back into carb country.
178.8 lb Lost so far: 44.6 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

I feel you on that! I lost four pounds as well and I know mine is water as well, but my clothes always lets me know the REAL deal. Just some advice, be kind to yourself, give yourself extra love and attention if needed and don't worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow take care of itself. Just focus on the four pounds lost and build from there. Your weight has no where to go but....DOWN! :) Good luck on your journey!

Do you get tired? I'm exhausted on day 10. Breath yuk!

Thank you both for commenting! Yes Buffy, I'm totally exhausted. I read that caffeine can stimulate insulin production so I'm trying not to overdo that. RDillard, your advice to be kind to myself is so sweet, I forget to be kind & loving to myself most days. I'm really hard on myself about my weight and most other aspects of my life, kindness would feel good for a change.

I didn't know that about caffeine. How interesting. Why didn't you tell em that an hour ago? I've just had a large cup of fresh brewed coffee lol

I've read or heard that the reason you get tired (or maybe one reason) is that it takes time for your body to develop the enzymes needed for your new diet. Previously, it manufactured more of the ones needed to digest carbs, but now you need more of the ones needed for protein and/or fat. You could try taking digestive enzymes...I bet it would help, and enzymes are good for you no matter what. But soon your body should adjust, and then you'll have similar problems if you go back to carbs. I did low-carb for so long that if I ever ate pizza or pasta, even one serving, I was miserable. Mostly feelings of indigestion, not tiredness.
