TheKarenS's Journal, 01 April 2011

I had a bad diet week last week. It started Tuesday when i weighed and had gained a little from the weekend. Weekends are usually my big weightloss time cuz of less available food and long hours worked. Then later Tuesday I had a taco salad and lOTS of cheese dip for lunch. Then i had leftovers that night, and the next day. I was so discouraged. I really wanted to throw in the towel. I was sick of dieting, esp after having a good week and weekend and showing a gain. I lost all resolve. I ~knew~ i was having fluid retention and constipation, but it didn't seem to help my mental outlook. Having said all of that. . .
When i got dressed Friday (jeans) i noticed that they weren't any tighter. I weighed when i got to work. When i started using the bathroom, I've showed a significant loss. I look forward to seeing what the scales at home say Tuesday morning. I do still have 3+ pitting edema in my legs, and i don't want to take a diuretic, so i'll have to keep that in mind. BTW, I'm looking into dietary diuretics :-)
I feel much better mentally/emotionally. I just wish my emotions and resolve weren't so easily swayed by the number on the scale. As far as mindset towards my diet, this was the worst lapse I've had so far. I pray I can stay on course.
161.2 lb Lost so far: 15.8 lb.    Still to go: 21.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Karen I know you can do it, you have the resolve and the chutzpah! Let the setback remind of how you feel when you let yourself down and don't do it again!

Karen, unless the dr prescribes it diuretics aren't good for you. There are several foods that are natural diuretics like cucumbers, watercress, coffee ect. Google diuretic foods and check it out. You have lost 16 lbs, you can do it and are getting results. We all have bad days or weeks, but it only goes downhill if you don;t get back on track. You realize your issue, now you can get back into the swing of things. If you fall off the horse and still want to ride it is best to get back in the saddle. Hang in there.
