Went over calories by about 500 per day on purpose Saturday and Sunday a) to compensate for a very heavy duty workout Sunday and b) to shake up my metabolism after 11 days of flat weight. This is a trick Northernmusician taught me that goes against everything one would think makes sense, but it totally works - FOR ME. Your mileage may vary.

I was rewarded this morning with an all-time low weight. The trick when doing this is NOT to go out and eat anything you want but to load up on leans and greens. I had 5 chicken thighs, extra eggs and big salads to make up the extra calories and not just empty calories.

I also found out from my doctor this morning that I am insulin resistant which is okay since I'm not diabetic, but since I gave up sugar last September, he said it was the best thing I could have done for myself. He also said that losing this 67 pounds is doing wonders for my health and overall numbers.

Cholesterol is 145 in spite of all the shrimp and lobster I'm eating to lose weight.

Really happy today and looking forward a great rest of the week!

My guess is you'll become insulin sensitive as you get leaner. At that point you'll have an entirely new chemistry set to play with.

Yay for shrimp and lobster - REAL food that's also an indulgence :) I'm glad you had success with "shaking up" your metabolism. Keep up the great work and your numbers will continue to improve :)

NM, you are so knowledgeable. Yes, it has been my experience as a nurse that as people lost weight, their body's cells started becoming responsive to insulin again. It's awesome the way that works. Makes for quite a motivating factor, in and of itself. That's what is so sad about people that get depressed about a diabetes diagnoses and just fall apart, not willing to exercise or change their eating habits.

I agree, Gillian. The medicos are very quick just to prescribe and do not much else, or wait until people are insulin dependent before trying to get them to think about diet. My mom has diabetes. Spent last summer at their home. I learned a lot about it then. The real tragedy though is that people do not seem inclined to work to avoid something that may be coming up. An ounce of prevention, yada yada.

I hear what you're saying, NM. Prediabetes runs in my family, so diabetes is one of the reasons I want to keep my weight down and stay away from junk food.
