Weight steady in spite of day #4 without any prune action. Yes, it's back to that old chestnut. Sigh. I was doing so well there for about ten days with regularity. I actually kidded myself into thinking for a brief time that maybe I was becoming a "normal" person who could enjoy regularity. Oh well. I should have known that this is just my cross to bear. My doctor said that they fact that it runs in my family is a huge strike against me and that this is just "normal" for me" and I have to learn to "deal with it".

Crap.

Or not.

That is not fun! Good luck with that!

Not funny but you made it humorous. Does magnesium citrate help? More water? More fat in your diet? More fiber?

NOT fun. It not only snafu's the weight but I find it to be very physically uncomfortable ;-( Would it help to go back to the days you were more successful in this area and see if your fiber was higher? That seems to be the thing that helps me most is to keep fiber up at over 20grams/day and drink a LOT of water/herbal tea. Hope things turn around for you soon!

I was going to ask about magnesium too. I was just reading that take it at night because it is a natural relaxant and it helps regulate/soften things up.

Flax seed?

I can sympathize, I have a lot of bowel trouble. Flax seed helps me, but can make me get really bad stomach cramps. Dulcolax really helps me, but sometimes takes a little longer than it says to work. For me though the one thing I can always count on is a McDonald's milkshake, don't know why, but it works, too bad they're so many calories. Good luck!!

Sorry, hon. All things in good time, lol. Doesn't sound fun, but don't have any more suggestions since we've had this discussion before. That is sure a bummer about the nice 10-day stretch not being a "new" normal.

A lot of the meds I have to use slow me down-----gerrrr. But I do use Dieters Tea which I get at the grocery store or health food store or order from Amazon. That does the trick. Also CALM by Natural Vitality it is a Magnesium suppliment. That works for me too. Good luck

So sorry and I can totally understand. My regular is twice a week IF I'm really lucky. More like once a week and it sucks, very painful, bloating, no weight loss.

I'm so regular, usually 3 times a day, that Keeper thinks I should move into the bathroom! I know you said that this is an issue with all in your family but I find when I change my diet things decide to go on strike.

My doc said Miralax daily, it seems to work.

I've begun using two tablespoons of flax seed twice a day. Seems to help a little.

I know this may sound overly simplistic, but when I was on those antibiotics, my immune system went south, and FS Buddies recommended I eat yogurt or try a probiotic. Now, my system is fine, and I eat yogurt regularly anyway, but I do remember when I took that over-the-counter Probiotic from Walmart, I was having regular movements 3 times a day that could only be attributed to the Probiotic. When I stopped taking it, I went back to my normal once a day. You might try it if you haven't.

Have had to be on antibiotics or antibacterials too many times. They wipeout much of your immune system for longer than you think. Anything you can do to rebuild the flora in your system helps speed that up. I know i start eating yogurt in everything i can.

I use probiotics daily, but when I began and had gut issues, I took a brand by the name of Renew Life Ultra Flora Critical Care 50 Billion, twice a day for a week. A bit of magic. They also have higher doses that can be taken. Once you've added the good bacteria, keep it up by taking one cap daily with a minimum of 25 billion/day. Got me off prescription drugs for the gut and moving like clockwork.
