Christina Maria Thompson's Journal, 04 April 2014

Feel like a stick in the mud after todays weigh in. I feel like I'm starving tring to stick with the 1200 cal thing. I need to get some better food choices when I can get to the grocery store is all I can think. I'm pissed off at myself at the moment but really trying to regain my usual postive attitude tword most everything.
I hoe my FS buddies did well this week!!!
OMG!!! It's Friday... I better get myself in gear as the weekends are always tuff for me because the house is full of people/kids ect. which means no privacy at all.
I'm sorry I don't have anything positive to say right now... think I'm just venting.
So anyways I'm up 2lbs this week so I need to do better than I have been doing latley.
I want to say thank you to ya'll for putting up with all of my messy self!!!!!!

I can't see what you're eating - are you logging it here? I've been getting by on 1000-1300 for a while now and it's not been that horrible. I ate 12 ounces of cocktail shrimp for 320 calories yesterday. It cost me 8 bucks, but I was so full! Stuff like that fills you up, all protein and no calories. Watermelon, another freebie. A pound of it is less than 200. Keep it up and hang in.

I'm new here, but that won't prevent me from commenting. :) Are you sure 1200 calories is enough for you? I'm sure you know that when you starve yourself, you trash your metabolism and can gain weight. I wouldn't beat myself up over struggling with a diet that only allows 1200 calories. If you're exercising, then 1200 is definitely not enough. Anyway, I hope your day goes better today!

I have to agree with Zombie, if you are active I would be concerned that your body is fighting back against weight loss with only 1200 cal/day. I grew up always being told that you should eat 1200 cal/day to lose weight, when in fact 1200 is actually the lowest you are supposed to go, ever. I would consider adding a couple hundred extra calories, and if that doesn't help adding more activity, but you should not feel like you're starving. It's not sustainable, and it isn't healthy. Sometimes less isn't always more. Best of luck to you for the weekend ahead, I hope you have a good one :-)

I just upped mine to 1500 from 1200 because of that. I was always eating more like 1300 to 1400 anyway, (plus I'm sure it was more than that due to the fact that I eyeball measurements right now.) I'm not necessarily starving but I was reading up on it and I don't want my metabolism to slow down. This article explains it very well: https://www.fitwatch.com/weight-loss/5-tips-to-avoid-plateaus-and-metabolic-slowdown-647.html

Agree with previous posters, stay hydrated and well-fed. Get Cooking Light magazine or something else that will give you new ideas rather than eating quick packaged foods or the same ol' salads (I would be bored to tears...literally). The other day I made braised eggplant and another, cannellini beans, kale and whole wheat pasta and still another, baked veggie eggrolls -- all pretty darn tasty and WELL within acceptable limits. Find your recipes and weekly menu first; then shop. Good luck, Christina!

I am in that 1200 cals a day challange for 6 or 8 weeks ( not sure on that ) but boy that is definatly a challange for myself anyways. I do log everything I eat and excercise too here. I do tend to get constipated which may be some of the problem. As far as excerise goes, I normally do around 30-40 min. of one thing or the other about 5-6 days a week. I have tried kicking the husband out of the kitchen but then he complains constanley that I didn't do this or that ect... yada yada yada. He THINKS hes the better cook and certainly do not listen to me about healthier eating. I try to pick up some things that I can keep to myself but those things don't seem to last long enough before I able to get back to the grocery. I really think I may be able to try a new cookbook to encourage the husband so that way it's not coming from me, lol... I'm sure everyone hear knows how you always feel pretty good after a workout, right right? Well I just completed mine a little bit ago and feel alot better than after the scale thing this a.m. lol Thanks for the great ideas!!! I feel so much better already!!! :)

Sometimes if your calories are too low, your body hangs on to every ounce! Depending on your build, do not starve yourself. I find sometimes after eating a lot of calories, I lose weight! I am stuck to, the scale ain't moving...but I lost inches, maybe you did too...check it out!
