euheide's Journal, 20 February 2014

inaccurate body fat percentage from body composition scale: 8.7 % (I wish)

inaccurate waist measurement around navel: 81.8 cm

blood pressure and heart beat: I forgot taking it until I got up and this is what I got: 113/65 - 64 bpm

Yesterday I really ate too much but I was also awake for a longer time than usual. I also woke up in the middle of the night to drink a cup of milk :)

Edit: It's funny that, according to Cronometer.com, 172 g of ocean perch has almost exactly the same ratio of calories (165 g) to protein (31 g) found in 100 g of chicken breast. But then they're completely different in other nutritional aspects:

100 g Ocean perch:
Vitamin B12: 3 micrograms [mcg] (123% of DV [for average person in cronometer.com])
Vitamin D : 99.7 IU (50% "")

Monounsaturated fat: 1.0 g
Polyunsaturated fat: 0.6 g
Omega-3: 0.5 g (31%)
Omega-6: 0 g
Saturated fat: 0.6 g (3%)
Trans-Fats: 0.019 g (n/a)
Cholesterol: 108.3 mg (36 %)

100 g Chicken breast:
Vitamin B3: 13.7 mg (86 %)
Vitamin B6: 0.6 mg (46 %)

Euheide, is your milk Skim Milk or 1%? One glass of Whole Milk has the same amount of saturated fat as five strips of bacon!

lol It's really whole milk Deb! :) But I wouldn't trade it for skim milk. The taste is worth it heheh ;) Also, most the vitamins in the milk come with the fat. And when the fat is removed, those vitamins are removed with it. They later add them (not the same but their artificial versions) and they call this process fortification. I also buy whole milk because of the fact that the sterilization is not made at such high temperatures which are said to destroy the nutritional content of the milk. But, ultimately, the taste really makes the decision lol. I didn't know that about the 5 strips of bacon though! I'm going to drink a cup now but it's just a coincidence ahahah!

Euheide, I'm not worried about you, because you are only 7 pounds from goal weight, and your blood pressure is good, and your heart beat is athletic. :)

I ended up eating an apple instead. I'm avoiding to drink until it´s later because of the magnesium absorption :)

ahahah Thank you very much for the compliment Deb! :)

There are 2 types of milk sold here, UHT (sterilized at ultra high temperature) and what we call fresh milk (sterilized at a lower temperature and has to be kept in the fridge). Each of those 2 types has 3 versions of fat available for sale: Skim milk, medium fat, and the one with all the fat (none removed). This last one is the one I drink (fresh milk with all the fat) heheh.

Great choice on the milk and that is why we only buy whole milk too.

Thanks Iamachristianjesusfreak! :) They also say that, when you drink skim milk, you end up getting hungrier than you would with whole milk and, so, you end up eating more carbohydrates to compensate, which will raise your triglycerides. And triglycerides are associated with the worst type of LDL cholesterol, "pattern B", which is the cholesterol responsible for building up in our arteries and causing heart disease :P
