cocobutt's Journal, 25 February 2011

Went to our local fish market and picked up some stuffed flounder. It was good, but I had forgotten how bony they are. I've been spoiled on filets. Makes me think of watching my grandpa clean fish he caught from the city lake. That was a lot of work for such a little meat. But I never heard my grandparents complain about how much prep time they put into their food. They'd probably laugh if they were living today and could see that the grocery store sells pre-sliced vegetables. How lazy are we? lol

Morning Coco. Good point! Everything is cut and packaged for convenience nowadays. It is much more cost effective to do it yourself but we all complain we have no time. Albeit true, there's much more satisfaction in doing things yourself. Stuffed flounder sounds very good. Interesting thoughts for today! Have a good one!

Respecting and appreciating every bite from where the SOURCE food comes from. Preparation, visually how it looks upon our plate, and savouring each delightful bite. This is some of what society has lost in the processed foods era but the Secret is out yet again. Thank you for sharing this journal today Coco as it really made me think about the Joy of food when you wrote how you never heard your grandparents complain as they took their valuable time to prepare a healthful meal. Hi buddies, thank you all for your comments. It's amazing how much of the food I eat now is still prepackaged and processed -- even though I know I'm eating better in general. Like yogurt and cheese. I am not at a point where I want to go to the trouble of making my own. We were talking last night about life in small towns like the one were we ate dinner last night. Mr Coco started a raised bed garden this year, but if we lived "out in the country" we could buy acres and a plow.

Good morning Coco! I love yogurt and cheese! Just I'm just a little careful about the amount of calorie & sodium cheese has. It better be great cheese worth to spend calories for it:) I avoid any packaged food or processed food.. I bone fish for my kids all the time for I often cook the whole fish. Have a great weekend, Coco!
