This healthy lifestyle plan is described by Jonathan Bailor in his book "The Calorie Myth." It maintains all of the healthy aspects of the Paleo and adds more non-starchy vegetables and high nutrition proteins, while reducing fats to only healthy whole fats, and cutting back on fruits to 3 or less servings of low glycemic per day. Also included are strategies for healthy mind and exercise.

SANE is an acronym for the requirements of the food eaten in this lifestyle: Satisfying - non-Aggressive (low glycemic) - Nutritional - inEfficient (absorbed slowely).

Calories are not counted and all non-starchy vegetable can be eaten without restriction. In fact a minimum of 10 servings/day is encouraged. A minimum 30 grams of protein is encouraged with each meal and 100 - 200 grams is the ideal range to try for each day. Only low glycemic, high nutritional fruit is encouraged, with 0 - 3 servings the suggested range per day. Only high nutrition, natural fats are allowed and should mostly be gotten from the foods. Supplemental fats, as in cooking oil and salad dressings should be balanced Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acids.

The whole tone of the SANE lifestyle is of a simple and smart way of eating, thinking, and exercising.

I have that book too, and am incorporating a lot of his ideas. It still amazes me how so much of the old misinformation still exists in our supposedly "enlightened" culture.

I agree. If only our leaders REALLY cared about our welfare. They would teach TRUE nutrition in our schools and strive to instill a healthy lifestyle for our youth.
