HealthyBabs's Journal, 15 January 2011

I bought my new scale and there is a 5 lb difference between the old one and the new one, so I adjusted my starting weight and todays weight by 5 lbs so I still show the correct amount of loss for this first week. Not too pleased in that the 5 lbs was not in my favor. :(
Had a decent day yesterday although my food was not as usual.

Breakfast: 6:30 - 11am coffee w/half & half only (bad decision)
Lunch: 1:30pm Chili's fajitas, 1/2 order of guac & black beans (no chips-good decision)
Dinner: 7:00pm Roast Pork (wasn't really hungry so I nuked the last of the left overs. Knew I needed to eat something or I would wake up in the middle of the night and graze. (good decision)
Snacks: None

Drank my usual tons of water
Did not take my vitamins or meds (just forgot)
20 min of unintentional moderate exercise
Burned 1592 calories because I ate way under my RDI
260.4 lb Lost so far: 16.6 lb.    Still to go: 100.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Oh, babs, I am sorry that the new scale is not the same as the old one, but great job recording it anyway. However, if you go by your old scale, you have lost nearly 10 pounds since the 10th of January, because your start weight on the 10th should be 5 pounds heavier also!!!! That is amazing...great job!

You are really brave to have bought a new scale mid-diet. I don't have the guts to have a scale in the house. I weigh in at Curves once a month. But my real question is: What is "20 minutes of unintentional moderate exercise"? Were you chasing the Fedex truck down the block?

@Stef - Whatever it is, I didn't have a choice, my old scale crapped out. Should not have left it by the baseboard heat which I found out when I read the directions for the new one. Since I don't know how long my old scale was "inaccurate" I will just stick with what the new one says. Bad part is that I was doing great for the 2012 Challenge (go blue team!!) because I was down 4 lbs but now I am showing up 1 lb. I adjusted my starting weight but it won't adjust for the challenge. No worries though, this is a very long challenge and I have a very long way to go so I will catch up in due time!

I completely understand...I have a dr scale that I use, no electronics...lol As for the challenge, it'll come back down again.

@Herm - I don't even know what mid-diet is since I feel like I have been on at least half of my life. Gotta have a scale for my own validation and also for my challenge, don't have any other way to weigh in. About the question of unintentional exercise, I wear a body media fit which keeps all kinds of stats about daily activity, cal in, cal out, hours of sleep, steps taken, minutes of moderate activity and minutes of vigorous activity. Unintentional exercise is just my daily activity and how vigorously I complete it. Some days it is -0- if I have been a slug. I try to incorporate taking stairs, parking far away in parking lots and things like that more now into my routine. I am currently not working out because I am getting a baseline to see what my calories burned per day are by just living and then I will adjust calorie intake and exercise accordingly so I can remain at a good loss/week with the right balance If you are interested in a BMF, check out www.bodymedia.com I see Jenny Craig has just incorporated the BMF into their weight loss program. It is a great and highly accurate tool.

It's sabotage, I tell you!!! You and I just HAPPEN to be on the BLUE team and we BOTH have scales that MYSTERIOUSLY died in the FIRST week of the challenge???? Coincidence??? I think NOT!!! AND....to make matters worse, our REPLACEMENT scales just HAPPEN to weigh us MORE than the old ones did??? The only question is....which team did it???LOL!!! Seriously Babs, mine died last weekend and my new one consistently weighed me 1.5 - 2 pounds heavier. But as Nelson reminded me - twice! - it's just a number. No choice but to just deal with it, right? Still, I know the feeling of fighting to lose what seem to be the SAME pounds all over again. We WILL catch up again and the Blue team will triumph!!!! Go Blue!

Hehehe. I knew my old scale was 12 lbs. light because I matched it to the Dr.'s scales when I would weight in there. When I bought my new scale, which I eventually had to do, I was dead on. I kept the old "inaccurate" scale in the bathroom because it's fun to jump on and be instantly 12 lbs. lighter . . . just a taste of things to come! :-)
