Jane Robbin's Journal, 27 October 2013

I thought I would gain weight because I started exercising and fat weighs less than muscle, but I didn't. I may as time goes on and my body looses fat and gains muscle, but I will be trimming down.

Actually a pound of fat equals a pound of muscle. It's just that muscle is more dense and takes up less room, so you can actually weigh more but be a lot smaller when you have less fat and more muscle. When you first start a workout, your muscles retain water to help them heal. This can be seen on the scale as a temporary gain, no loss or smaller loss than usual. It is temporary. It takes time to actually gain a pound of muscle. But keep going because exercise will help you lose fat more quickly. Good luck!
