cocobutt's Journal, 12 January 2011

This whole week has felt like a holiday because of the snow and ice. The roads are fairly passable most places, but with schools closed, lots of folks stayed home from work.

I've been oversleeping. Woke up at 10am today! I made my night owl ways worse by starting a coffee habit at night, but last night I substituted green tea and was able to hit the hay by 1am and not lie there twitching. I can see clearly how caffeine really messes with my mood and sleep patterns.

yeah when I gave up pop.. I really started feeling caffeine. I have to avoid the stuff like the plague after 3 pm.. or I am doomed.. so then when we go out to eat my choices for drinks are water... or risk it and drink iced tea. I drink alot of tea all day long but always decaf. I used to drink a 2 liter of pop (coke or dr pepper full sugar oh yeah baby the hard stuff) from 9 to 10 pm and go right to bed with no worries.. I felt all the caffeine shamfeine stuff was in peoples heads.. but nope it is a stimulant just like the dr says.. I guess maybe all that book learnin really did pay off for her! :)

And it really is addictive! I woke up yesterday morning still buzzing and agitated, and I snapped at my poor hubby over something minor. By 5pm yesterday, I was fighting the urge to brew a pot as I started yawning. So no more coffee for Coco!

coco, we are night owls also...like to stay up late. And the snow here gives us just the excuse not to have to go our anywhere!

After my surgery this past summer, I can't touch caffeine. I do miss it, since it's sometimes hard to get going in the mornings and herbal tisases are no substitutes for black (or even green) tea, but I'm learning to do without.

@ctlss -- I think it's natural for some people to be night owlish. I have never been like my parents, who still get up at 4 or 5am even though my dad's been retired For ages. They hit the sack by 9. Can't do it! @ Lisa -- I remember being addicted to Coke when I worked in an office. I don't think I've had a soda pop in months and I don't miss it at all. @Fledgist -- That's a shame you can't at least have green tea, which is my drink of choice now. There are decaf versions of the teas, but maybe it's not as mild as you need.
