Woohoo glad to have dropped a couple more pounds! I was worried after the birthday party (and cake and ice cream) last weekened, when my weight jumped up again. But following my diet again since getting back has had awesome results:

1) Crazy amounts of energy.... I never realized how tired and lethargic I felt when eating lots of carbs and insufficient protein. I thought I was just naturally tired all the time. But yesterday I was bouncing off the walls in the late afternoon - without any coffee!

2) Pounds are just melting away.... I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make sufficient progress toward my DietBets. If I don't meet my goals, I will lose the money I put into the pots - that's $85 between the three games! I have 11 days to lose 2.5 pounds. It'll be tough, but I can make it if I stick with the diet and don't go crazy on my cheat day (I'm thinking some dark chocolate and wine and maybe some fruit, instead of cake, ice cream, pepperoni bread, beer, etc).

3) Reduced food bill.... This is an unexpected benefit. I thought stocking up on all that protein was going to be pricey, but it's actually been cheaper! Since I'm not drinking beer, and my husband has cut back a lot, we're saving $20-30/week (only spend about $10/week on wine). The use of beans as a source of protein and calories is great, because they are SOOO cheap. If I make a pot of chili or bean 'salad' in the crock pot, it barely costs $10 for several days worth of food. I like saving money :)

4) Clarity of mind.... When I started the slow-carb diet, I also started the Early to Rise challenge (wake up early for 30 days). On days when I eat carbs, I sleep late and wake up groggy. On days when I don't eat carbs, I wake up early and feel refreshed. By the time I get into work, my head is in the game and I'm ready to go. The exhaustion does hit me pretty hard in the evenings - 9pm rolls around and I can't stop yawning and it gets hard to focus. But I'd rather go to bed and wake up earlier - the hour between 6am and 7am is infinitely more productive than the hour between 10pm and 11pm.
162.4 lb Lost so far: 3.6 lb.    Still to go: 37.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Thanks :) I wanted to capture the good parts so when I'm craving some pasta or ice cream I can remember why I'm doing this!
