Good morning, friends...

It's late morning here, almost ten am.

I am on the train going to Roskilde, heading out for a fun vacation day with Wife and Daughter. It's gonna be a nice day - the weather is awesome and everyone is excited to go.

Yesterday I didn't do all that well - at least nowhere as good as I expected to. Boo.

I started off in great shape, enjoying our "lumberjack special" made with extra care and love.

This was gonna go perfectly hand in hand with another reasonable meal for dinner, and I was pretty much gonna leave it at that. But of course, plans changed, and it affected me severely.

It's not that I did ALLthat bad. Sure, I went over my RDI, but not over my daily burn. There is no damage done, even if the scale tells a different story today. There are reasons for that, though.

1. Salt. We had the most excellent BBQ with some friends, and it affected me. I'm pretty sure this is the major culprit, as I practically didn't go #1 all day after even lunch. I'm sure the salt came from both meals. I can live with that.

2. (TMI warning) #2. I haven't gone #2 for several days, to the point where my stomach is hurting. Very annoying. I'm sure I'll get things moving soon, though.

Also, my body fat percentage is down significantly since yesterday. This usually happens after days with more food but not too many calories, and days when my water balance shifts.

All these are pretty clear indicators that everything is fine.

...

So, the rest of the week is gonna be full of challenges. I'll do my best to minimize damage, but I can't make any promises. :-)

...

Today, we're out and shopping. There will be lunch and dinner out. There will probably be ice cream on the go. I'll go for small portions, and try to be smart about it, but it's hard to do when the rest of the gang just want either "something good", or don't wanna wait to find an appropriate place because they're "hungry RIGHT NOW". That's okay. I'll navigate to the best of my abilities. We won't be eating until my feeding window opens, at least, and there is a time limit on the damage I can do.

Tomorrow, i think I'll be all right. Nothing much going on then, just the usual. I'm be working at the gym from 5 to 8,so basically my feeding window closes at five. It's all good.

Friday, we have reserved table at a kind of outdoor BBQ and steak buffet. This is our night out at the town festival. There is no telling what'll happen. I'll make lunch very reasonable to make room for a high calorie dinner.

And Saturday, the singer from my band is getting married.

As you can see, plenty of challenges.

Still, I'm try to do my best. I'll only eat within the time allowed, to remain in control, and I'll try to be smart about it. But also, I want to enjoy my outings and the things we're gonna be doing. We do put a good chunk of money into our trips and I don't want to end up paying 30+ dollars for a tiny plate of nothing when everyone else is having great food. No way.

So what I see in the near future is days full of damage and damage control before and after. It is what it is. Man, summer is tough, isn't it? I'm starting to be looking forward to it being over.

Still, other than the food challenges, I'm loving every moment of it.

...

Today, I'm thankful for:
-Going out with Wife and Daughter
-Summer! It's finally here. It's hot, but I'm not complaining!

Life is good!

Keld, you've been here before and will be again. Life is full of challenges in the shape of fun things going on and we do the best we can and when it's over we compensate with low cal days and IF. So enjoy your fun time with your family today, and the wedding on the week-end, and the Friday date night ( :) ) and then next week when you are back to work, you can kick it old school and get back to basics. It's just something we with weight issues always have to be aware of. There are no 'free rides'. We can have fun but we have to pay for it and fix it later. It's all good. We know we can do this, I know you know how to do this. Enjoy buddy. Have an awesome day. Icecream - yum :) (I had a butter tart last night but because it was within my calories for the day I still dropped back to my new baseline - calorie counting is great - thanks :)

Calorie counting IS great. It shows us where we are, how we are doing and what we can allow ourselves to do. For me, I had an excellent vegetarian lunch, to die for - but drenched in hidden calories and the best I could hope for would be to ballpark it on the calories. Still, I'm within my RDI and I won a small battle out two along the way. More on that tomorrow. :-)
